Montana Creek Fisherman's Access Trail Volunteer Day

Event Date: Aug 20, 2022

Event Location: Fisherman's Access Trail

Trail Mix is thrilled to be partnering with Trout Unlimited for a day of work on the Fisherman’s Access Trail in the Montana Creek watershed. The Fisherman’s Access Trail provides a quick half-mile hike to a stunning section of the Montana Creek canyon.

After years of disuse, the Fisherman’s Access Trail has become overgrown, rooty, and hard to navigate. We’re excited to improve this trail to help fish and fishermen alike. The current trail fades in and out and many side trails have been created that cross over sensitive stream beds. Trail Mix will be working with Trout Unlimited to reroute the trail away from salmon habitat.

For our workday, we will be brushing the trail, clearing away overgrowth, and improving the tread on the first section of the trail. Trail Mix will provide all necessary tools, safety gear, and instructions. We will also have gloves for those who do not have them. Please wear clothes that can get dirty and sturdy hiking boots/rain boots.
We will be working from 9 am to 3 pm. You are welcome to join for the entire day or a half day (9am to 12pm or 12pm to 3pm).

Getting there: Fisherman’s Access Trail is located about 1 mile before the Hank Harmon Rifle Range. Parking is at a pull-off on the right side of the road as you approach the rifle range. Directions can be found here: https://goo.gl/maps/5ArCHWZAYk7Gtad48
