CNPS walk at the Vina Plains Preserve

Event Date: Mar 29, 2026

Event Location: Vina Plains Preserve

The Vina Plains Preserve protects unique wetlands called vernal pools, which alternate seasonally between wet and bone-dry conditions. Rare crustaceans and plants that inhabit these pools are uniquely adapted to the annual wet/dry cycle. The pools also provide feeding opportunities for migratory waterfowl. Researchers have studied the Preserve’s rare species and vernal pool habitats for decades, resulting in dozens of scientific publications.

The Nature Conservancy hosts public tours at Vina Plains each spring and provides access to clubs and classes. We ask all guests to keep this land pristine by keeping vehicles on established gravel roads and packing out everything you bring with you.
