Solos, Duets and Trios • Must have a great attendance record for the current year • Must have an amazing work ethic and a healthy mindset towards competition.
Requirements Must be willing to learn choreography in the summer. Solos and Duets must attend the Solo/Duet class on Fridays.There are three classes to choose from 3:30-4:30, 4:30-5:30 and 5:30-6:30. The availability of these classes is on a first come first serve basis. The cost is $45 a month. Trios must attend the Trio/Small Group rehearsal on Wednesday from 4:30-6:00. The cost is $45 a month. You will be charged for Solo/Duet and/or Trio/Small Group starting in August and the last payment for the class will be in May. Policies Parents are not permitted to come into rehearsals or classes. Parents and students do not make decisions about music, costumes or choreography. Costumes must be approved by Ms.Laura before they are made or purchased. All decisions will be made by the instructor and then approved by Ms. Laura. Choreography cannot be started without approval or without a signed contract. Students are responsible for practicing at home to ensure a quality performance. Choreography should be polished and constantly improving. Dancers will not perform at competition until the instructor and Ms. Laura feel that she/he/they are ready. Any dancers who do not maintain good attendance will not perform and will not receive any refunds for costumes, choreography or competition fees. Performing a solo/duet/trio is not an easy task and the decision to perform one is not to be taken lightly. The teachers and Ms. Laura will be hard on these dancers in order to get them prepared. It will take an impeccable work ethic and tough skin to achieve success. No solo/duet/trio will perform at any ACSD performances unless asked by Ms. Laura No ACSD dancer is permitted to enter a competition independently or use choreography for any other competitive studio. All works created for Ann Carroll School of Dance are to be used only for Ann Carroll School of Dance. Permission may be obtained by Ms. Laura to perform solos, duets or trios at school talent shows, church functions etc. All practice times to learn choreography must be paid in advance and booked though your parent portal. Only specific times are available. Please do not contact the choreographer directly. All decisions and correspondence should be done through the studio. Students should bring some kind of recording device to rehearsal. Teachers are not permitted to text or email clients directly. Music and videos will be shared through the studio dropbox if necessary. Ms. Laura will make all decisions regarding choreographers. Partners for duets and trios can be requested but Ms. Laura will make the final decision. **New This Year- Solo, duet and trio costumes will not be ordered until a parent has signed off on the costume. A picture of the costume with the size we will be ordering along with the shoes and tights necessary will be sent to you. We will need a signed hard copy returned to the front desk before any costumes will be ordered. **Very Important- Solo and duet dancers must attend the full solo/duet rehearsal class on Fridays. Trio dancers must attend the full rehearsal class on Wednesdays. If that cannot be arranged, the dancer/dancers must book a half hour private lesson to work on their solo, duet and trio within two weeks of the absence. We are no longer able to accommodate dancers who need to leave early or arrive late. Dancers must attend the class time that they are registered for. No switching classes is permitted. Cost • $375 for choreography. Includes a 30-minute consultation to pick music and style of dance and 4 one hour sessions to learn the choreography, $45 a month for the Friday or Wednesday rehearsals, costume fee (which can range from $100-$150) and competition fees which range from $140-$160 (split for duets and trios) I accept all rules, requirements and policies of my dancer participating in a solo, duet or trio and I have clearly communicated the policies and expectations to my dancer.
