Standard Operating Procedure & Rules - Range safety rules are non-negotiable. Failure to comply with the following established rules will result in loss of range privileges, up to and including forfeiture of paid range time. We reserve the right to deny services to anyone for any reason. Eye and ear protection must be worn at all times while on the range. STEEL CORE AMMUNITION IS PROHIBITED ON THE RANGE.
- All shooters under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times while on the range.
- Children must not be left unattended, and a 1:1 child to adult ratio must be maintained at all times.
- No pregnant women are allowed on the range
- Be sure that your firearm is safe to operate and know how to operate it safely. Always keep your firearm unloaded, your finger off of the trigger and the muzzle pointed in a safe direction until ready to shoot. Never hand a loaded firearm to another person.
- If sharing a lane, firearms must be placed on the shooting bench at the firing line, never handed from person to person or moved from lane to lane. Failure to comply will not be tolerated.
- Use only the correct ammunition for your firearm. If you have any questions, please consult a Range Officer.
- Steel, unjacketed, armor piercing, tracer and military surplus ammunition are prohibited. Ammunition may be inspected and tested by the Range Officers. Repeated violation of this rule will result in permanent barring from the range.
- SLUGS ONLY IN SHOTGUNS. ALL STEEL PROJECTILE AMMUNITION IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED.
- No muzzle loaders are allowed on the range.
- Food and beverages are prohibited on the ranges. Alcoholic beverages and drugs are prohibited on the property. Individuals/Groups displaying the effects of, or thought to be under the influence of, drugs or alcohol will be prohibited from using any of the ranges.
- Maximum of two people are allowed per shooting position, at the same time. Only load your firearm when you are on the firing line, keeping the muzzle pointed downrange at all times. No handgun drawing from a holster is allowed.
- If you have a malfunction or a jam that you cannot clear, lay the firearm on the bench while keeping the muzzle pointed downrange, and ask the Range Officer for assistance. Never remove a jammed or malfunctioning firearm from the range without prior approval from the Range Officer. When you finish shooting, unload and CASE your firearm before leaving the firing line. Never walk behind the firing line with a firearm in your hand.
- Your brass may be picked up if you would like to keep it; otherwise, it can be left on the floor. Never extend past the firing line to pick up brass. Please place your trash in the receptacle. Never extend any part of your body forward of the firing line for any reason. Consult the Range Officer for retrieval of items dropped beyond the firing line.
- Range officers are authorized to remove any shooter whose behavior is detrimental to the safe operations of any of the ranges. Commands issued by any Range Officer MUST be followed immediately. If unsafe behavior is noticed, then please make sure that the Range Officer is notified of such action immediately. Please read and understand the Range Rules and Regulations before you proceed to any of the ranges. Please ask any of the Range Officers for clarification if you have any questions.
- Groups of shooters are responsible for all members of the group, if one person in the group does not follow rules, regulations, safety procedures, the entire group can be banished the same.
- WFTC Procedures & Rules are not limited to only those listed above
Inherent Risk - Inherent Risks: I acknowledge that handling and shooting of firearms involve inherent dangers, hazards, and risks that cannot be completely eliminated. These dangers, hazards, and risks include personal injury to myself and others (including, but not limited to, ear damage, eye damage, other bodily injury, disability, and death) and damage to personal property resulting from the handling and shooting of firearms. BY SIGNING THIS AGREEMENT, I AM ASSUMING AND ACCEPTING ANY AND ALL INHERENT DANGERS, HAZARDS, AND RISKS OF PERSONAL INJURY AND PROPERTY DAMAGE THAT MAY BE ASSOCIATED WITH THE HANDLING AND SHOOTING OF FIREARMS AT WISCONSIN FIREARMS AND TRAINING CENTER, INC. (“WFTC”) BY ME, ANY WFTC EMPLOYEES OR REPRESENTATIVES, OR OTHERS AT WFTC.
- Waiver and Release of Negligence Claims: I fully, forever, knowingly, voluntarily, and irrevocably waive, release, and discharge WFTC, and each of its owners, directors, officers, employees, representatives, agents, successors, and assigns (collectively, the "WFTC Parties"), from and against any and all claims, obligations, demands, damages, causes of action, liabilities, losses, and expenses of any nature whatsoever (including bodily injury or death to me or any of my guests, any damage to or destruction of any of my personal property or the property of my guests, reasonable attorneys' fees, expert fees, and court costs) (collectively, "Claims" or "Damages") against any WFTC Party on account of or in any way related to or arising out of the following activities at WFTC: (i) negligent handling of firearms and archery equipment; (ii) negligent firearm shooting activities; and (iii) negligent supervision of WFTC employees or representatives, members, and guests at WFTCs facility.
- Indemnification: I agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless the WFTC Parties from and against any and all Claims and Damages suffered or incurred by any WFTC Party as a result of, arising out of, or caused by any of my acts or omissions occurring at WFTC’s facility.
- Severability: If any term or provision of this Agreement, or the application thereof to any person or circumstance, shall to any extent be invalid or unenforceable, the remainder of this Agreement, or the application of such provision to persons or circumstances other than those as to which it is invalid or unenforceable, shall not be affected hereby, and each provision of this Agreement shall be valid and enforceable to the extent permitted by law.
- Governing Law: This Agreement shall be governed by the internal laws of the State of Wisconsin. Any claim or lawsuit arising out of my membership in, or any occurrence while I am present at, WFTC, including the presence of any of my family member(s) or guests at WFTC, and/or the interpretation of this Agreement, shall be venued in the Waukesha County Circuit Court for the State of Wisconsin.
- Understanding of Agreement: Opportunity to Negotiate: I have read and fully understand this Agreement and its contents. Before signing this Agreement I have had the opportunity to consult with legal counsel concerning the significance and implications (legal and otherwise) of this document, and have been given the opportunity to negotiate with WFTC regarding its terms, conditions, and covenants.
