Camping Transfer Procedure

Baggage allowance – we allow one third of a cubic metre per person and it is measured by our camper’s trolley used to bring all luggage down to the vessel. On top of that we also allow each person to take a 1 x 20L water container. Please be aware that excess luggage/equipment charges will apply if you go over your allocation. Our crew will assess and identify any excess upon loading. We also may not have room on board to accommodate for excess luggage, to avoid disappointment please advise our reservations team prior to travel date if you will be carrying more than your allocation, so we can make arrangements to ensure adequate space. Staff have the right to refuse boarding any bags or gear suspected to hold, store or conceal fishing paraphernalia. Lady Musgrave Experience operates in a green zone and as such strictly adheres to the zero take rules and no fishing equipment shall pass in or through the green zone via our vessels at any time. Guests who wish to take fishing equipment onto the island should seek another operator. Equipment stowage – Due to unpredictable vessel movements, weather and limited space on board it is important that all your equipment is packed securely and safely. Please follow our guidelines below to ensure efficient loading and off-loading. • All gear packed in soft duffle type bags or plastic containers; this also includes items like gas bottles and cooking equipment. Milk crates are a good option for gas bottles and cooking equipment. • Do not load more than 20kgs per bag/container. • Mark all items clearly with your name. • Tape together loose items such as poles and table legs. • Ensure bag zips are closed and in good condition and containers lids are secure. • Additional equipment such as gas fridges, kayaks, surfboards, etc. incur additional charges and must be listed on the booking form. Please note we currently are not able to transfer small boats such as a dinghy or tinny but we are able to transfer inflatable dinghy’s if they’re deflated for travel. Loading - We prefer our campers to load the day prior to departure. Arriving by 5pm and ready to load at 5.15pm after our day guests have disembarked. The campers loading trolley is located in front of the Lady Musgrave Experience carpark. If it cannot be located please notify one of our friendly crew. Our crew will advise where all luggage is to be stowed. Car Parking – is available free at our designated carpark located at 15 – 17 Marina Drive, Burnett Heads. Please ensure you park in our area that is marked "THE HOME OF LADY MUSGRAVE EXPERIENCE". This area is a large gravel car-park & not to be mistaken with the marina car-park. Your car may be towed if parked in the incorrect space. Campers Trolley – 1/3 cubic metre

Safety Information

Lady Musgrave Island is a remote coral cay. Strong winds, rough seas and cyclones can isolate campers. To enjoy a safe visit ensure you are prepared for emergencies, make yourselves familiar with the following – • Monitor weather forecasts and radio messages about changing weather conditions and possible evacuation. • Carry emergency food, water and medical supplies. • Mobile phones are useful but not reliable. A marine VHF radio is preferred. In an emergency you can contact VMR 477 Round Hill or VMR488 Bundaberg both available from 7am – 6pm on Marine VHF Channel 81 also the Queensland Police Service monitor Marine VHF Channel 81 24 hours a day. Please take note and keep these details with you. • Lady Musgrave Island has an emergency radio on the toilet block deck. This provides emergency contact with the Volunteer Marine Rescue in Bundaberg. • Protect yourself from biting insects. Wear insect repellent to deter bird ticks. If bitten, carefully lever them out with tweezers, then disinfect the area around the bite. Large centipedes are active at night, especially in wet weather. Shake out bedding, clothing, footwear and dive gear. Bites usually result in local pain and some swelling, lasting only a short time. Treat with ice (if possible). • Do not camp beneath large or brittle Pisonia tree branches. They can break and fall unexpectedly. • Treat cuts, grazes and even the smallest of scratches carefully and immediately. Iodine is your first aid essential. • Take extra care during summer. Take precautions to avoid sunburn and heat exhaustion. On hot days, drink plenty of water and stay in the shade if possible. • Be aware of tides and currents whilst in the water and never dive or snorkel alone. This schedule is a guideline only and is subject to change. Our crew will brief all campers on the day’s procedures upon arrival.
