RAY SCUBA DIVING CONTINUING EDUCATION LEARNING AGREEMENT

Welcome to your continuing education program at Ray Scuba Diving! Our advanced-level and technical diving courses are designed to challenge and expand your skills. We are committed to maintaining high standards for safety, preparedness, and personal responsibility. This agreement outlines our mutual expectations to ensure you get the most out of your training experience.

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES

As a continuing education student, you agree to:

  • Read and sign all required Course Liability Release(s), Express Assumption of Risk(s), and any waivers or disclosures required by the training agency or Ray Scuba Diving.
  • Complete the Medical Questionnaire and provide a physician’s release if required by agency standards or instructor discretion.
  • Complete all required eLearning or course materials prior to attending classroom, pool, or open water sessions.
  • Bring your completed Knowledge Reviews or digital course confirmations to class.
  • Ask questions about any content you do not understand.
  • Arrive on time, prepared, and with all required personal gear.
  • Follow all procedures and instructions given by the instructional staff.
  • Be physically and mentally prepared for the demands of advanced or technical-level diving.
  • Own and bring all required personal dive gear appropriate to the course, including any redundant systems or specialty equipment (see Equipment Policy below).
  • Maintain a dive log and an active DAN membership with dive accident insurance coverage (required for all technical-level courses).

EQUIPMENT POLICY

  • Students enrolled in advanced or technical-level courses must own their own life-support equipment. This includes, but is not limited to: BCDs, regulators (including redundant systems if required), dive computers or timers, exposure protection, and appropriate cylinders.
  • All student-owned gear must be in safe working condition and meet manufacturer-recommended service intervals.
  • Proof of current servicing (receipts or tags from a certified technician or dive shop) is required prior to the start of training. Gear that cannot be verified or appears unsafe will not be allowed for use—no exceptions.
  • While limited rental gear may be available for non-technical specialty courses, it is not available for technical-level training.

INSTRUCTOR/STAFF RESPONSIBILITIES

Your instructor(s) and staff agree to:

  • Begin the course on time and be fully prepared.
  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and professional learning environment.
  • Offer clear instruction and support to help you meet course performance requirements.
  • Provide reasonable accommodations for students with documented learning challenges.
  • Notify you of any gear or safety concerns and make appropriate recommendations.

COURSE FEES AND INCLUSIONS

Course pricing for continuing education programs varies by course level, location, and required components.

Your specific course costs are itemized and documented on your point-of-sale (POS) receipt at time of enrollment.

Unlike entry-level programs, continuing education courses are not billed as a package. Each course component—digital academics (eLearning), academic reviews, confined water sessions, and open water dives—is listed and charged separately. This modular format allows for flexible scheduling and customization based on the course and diver needs.

Unless explicitly listed on your POS receipt, the following are not included in your course fee:

  • Rental gear (unless arranged separately)
  • Admission to dive parks, quarries, pools, or training facilities
  • Parking, meals, or lodging
  • Dive boat charters or liveaboard fees
  • Air, Nitrox, Trimix, or Oxygen fills
  • Medical consultations or dive physicals
  • Course books, printed logs, or classroom supplies
  • Tips or gratuities for boat crews or dive professionals

Please refer to your POS receipt to confirm your individual course costs and included services. Additional training sessions, reschedules, or makeup dives will be billed separately.

COURSE COMPLETION DISCLAIMER

Due to the nature of advanced-level and technical training—including travel, logistics, and specialized environments—course completion is not guaranteed. Students must meet all performance, knowledge, and safety requirements to receive certification.

If a student is unable to complete the course due to lack of readiness, failed skills, or inability to meet standards, additional training time and associated costs will apply. This may include instructor fees, pool time, gear rental, travel, or rescheduling fees—none of which are included in the original course price.

TRIP & CHARTER POLICY

Courses involving travel, charters, or destination training may include non-refundable bookings such as accommodations, dive boats, or third-party excursions. Once booked, these are non-refundable and non-transferable, regardless of whether the student completes the course or is cleared to dive.

Missed dives or withdrawal due to medical issues, scheduling conflicts, or skill deficiencies will not result in a refund of associated travel costs. Students must be prepared to cover any rebooking or rescheduling expenses.

PROFICIENCY & READINESS POLICY

Students are expected to maintain the minimum skills and readiness required for their course level. For technical, deep, or overhead environments, this includes comfort with equipment, buoyancy, team awareness, and emergency procedures.

If a student is not yet proficient in foundational or prerequisite skills, they may be withheld from trip participation or advanced dives until those skills are demonstrated.

Remedial sessions are billed separately and required before continuing.

CANCELLATION & RESCHEDULING POLICY

  • A minimum of 72 hours’ notice is required to change or cancel any scheduled training session. Less notice may result in a $150 rescheduling fee.
  • Missed sessions due to unpreparedness, failed gear inspection, or incomplete coursework may require rescheduling and incur additional fees.
  • All training must be completed within six months of the original enrollment date, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

TIMEOUT POLICY

Students must complete their full course—including all academics, confined water sessions (if applicable), and open water dives—within six months of enrollment.

Failure to do so will result in course expiration (“timeout”), and re-enrollment at current pricing will be required to continue.

ACKNOWLEDGMENT & AGREEMENT

By signing below, I certify that I have read, understand, and agree to the terms and conditions outlined in this Continuing Education Learning Agreement. I acknowledge the cancellation policy, course completion timelines, safety and readiness expectations, required equipment standards, and any additional fees or policies described above.
