Learning Agreement with Columbia Scuba Welcome to the PADI course. We believe that you will find your dive training experience both fun and rewarding. Columbia Scuba is committed to presenting information and teaching skills that will prepare you to begin exploring under water. To learn and practice important concepts and skills for using life-support equipment under water, you must invest the time needed to do it. This learning agreement is between you (the student diver) and our instructional staff and it outlines our mutual responsibilities through the completion of this course. Student Diver Responsibilities: I, (student diver), agree to study independently as specified by the instructor. In general, this means that before each practical session, I will: Complete the assigned PADI Open Water course materials, including viewing the PADI Open Water Diver video or other course materials that I may be participating in and complete the Quick Quiz questions, if part of the course. Complete the assigned Knowledge Review(s). Complete the final exam (as assigned). In addition, I agree to: Follow all course procedures as set forth by my instructor. Ask questions about anything not understood. Be on time and prepared for each practical session, including allowing time to assemble and check my gear so that we can begin training in a timely and orderly manner. If I do not or am not able to follow the points above, I understand that I may need to reschedule practical sessions and that I am responsible for any additional related costs. In rescheduling and determining additional costs, Columbia Scuba agrees to give every reasonable consideration to unforeseen events, such as family emergencies. Instructor and Staff Responsibilities: The course instructor and store staff agree to: - Start the class as scheduled.
- Provide a positive learning environment.
- Answer your questions to the best of our ability.
- Assist you through any course challenges.
- Provide opportunities for as many knowledge development, confined water dives and open water dives as necessary for you to comfortably master course/performance objectives. The course fee is based on the average time and sessions to complete the course and includes factoring all knowledge development assessments, confined water dives and open water dives (if you paid to complete the open water portions of your course with Columbia Scuba). Because people may learn skills at different rates, we use a mastery learning teaching model that is student-centered and performance based, not time-based). Additional sessions may be necessary for you to comfortably meet course objectives for certification.
