Tanique® Sunless Tanning Release Form

Our objective at Tanique is to help you achieve a beautiful and natural airbrush tan without the harmful effects from ultraviolet light. Our airbrush tans are customized for you and your skintone. Your health, safety and comfort are of our greatest concern. 

Please be aware of the following:

DHA is listed in the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act) as a color additive for use in imparting color to the human body. However, its use in cosmetics – including sunless “tanning” products – is restricted to external application. According to Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), “externally applied” cosmetics are those “applied only to external parts of the body and not to the lips or anybody surface covered by mucous membrane” (21 CFR 70.3v). [FD&C Act, Sec. 721; 21 U.S.C. 379e; 21 CFR Parts 70 and 80]

DHA reacts with the skin’s amino acids resulting in a “tan.” All ingredients in the product used are intended for cosmetic use and are generally regarded as safe. Like most cosmetics, avoid exposure to the eyes, lips, and other parts of the body covered with a mucous membrane. This should be accomplished by following the staff’s breathing instructions as to avoid inhaling or ingesting the sunless product.

Be advised there may be a small percentage of individuals whose skin does not react favorably to airbrush tanning. There are occasions where individuals may be allergic to one or more ingredients in the solution. If this occurs, shower and discontinue use. If severe reaction occurs, contact a physician.

Your airbrush tan should last 7-10 days, depending on your pre and post-care regimen. It’s very important to keep your skin moisturized after application, avoiding long baths or showers and hot tubs. Salt water exposure or a chlorinated pool can also shorten your tan. Following the session, please avoid tight clothes, excessive perspiring, and do not shower for at least 8-10 hours if you received the Signature Tan. If you received a Rapid Tan, please speak with your airbrush technician on your desired shower time (2-4 hours). We always recommend a trial session a few weeks in advance before any big event to ensure we find the perfect shade for you. Some fabrics may be lightly stained by the airbrush tanning solution but may wash out. Please use caution and care.

Warning: Airbrush tans do not contain a sunscreen and does not protect against sunburn. Repeated exposure of unprotected skin may increase the risk of skin aging, skin cancer and other harmful effects to the skin even if you do not burn. 

I have read the contents of this consent form carefully and state that I authorize Tanique and all technicians to perform airbrush tanning procedures. I am not aware of any medical condition, allergies, or other reason that would prohibit me from airbrush tanning. I have been given adequate instructions for the proper use of the sunless application, understand the risks involved, and allow it to be used at my own risk. I have been advised to discontinue use if any adverse reaction occurs.

I do here and forever release, discharge, and hereby hold harmless Tanique and their respective agents, heirs, assigns, contractors, and employees from any and all claims, demands, damages, rights of action, or cause of action, present or future, arising out of or connected with my participation in this activity, including any injuries resulting there from. I acknowledge and agree that no warranties or representations have been made to me regarding the results I will achieve from this activity. I understand that results may vary.

Important Pre / Post Tan Instructions

If you're doing the Signature Tan, you must wait a minimum of 8 hours before showering, working out, getting sweaty, etc. Stay dry and comfortable in loose dark clothing. You may also sleep in this and rinse the next day if desired as this formula as it stops developing after the 8 hours.

If you're doing the Rapid Tan, you have to do a quick rinse within 2-4 hours after your session. It's a time sensitive product and the ending result color is based on how long you're leaving it on for within that time frame. It's a triple bronzer and will appear dark at first then all of that will rinse off in your first shower, then re-appear after 8-12+ hours. It's simply giving you the convenience to shower sooner! Please talk to your airbrush tanning specialist to discuss recommended shower time. 

Your first shower needs to be a quick rinse. NO shaving or scrubbing. Quick wipe down all over to ensure you're getting all of the bronzer off. NO DOVE OR BAR SOAPS. Stick with a simple shower gel over the duration of your tan.

MOISTURIZE!! Preferably twice a day! This is the most important part of making your airbrush tan last! Keeping your skin hydrated helps lock in the color and ensures a nice even fade. *Check the back of your lotions and STAY AWAY FROM MINERAL OIL in your lotions! This ingredient will strip the tan faster! 

The average tan will last 7-10 days. Keep in mind all of your pre/post tan care regimens, daily activities, products you're using, etc will determine how long it lasts. It can vary for everyone. It may gradually fade quicker in the areas that are getting the most washing (hands, face), and where your clothing may be rubbing / you're sweating, etc.
