Before permitted to drive your personal vehicle on behalf of The Association of Women in Water, Energy and Environment (AWWEE or Association), you are required to read and sign the Volunteer Driver Waiver Form on the following page. The following rules apply whenever you are driving on behalf of AWWEE: - You must have your valid driver’s license in your possession.
- You must obey all traffic laws and be courteous toward other drivers.
- You must maintain automobile liability coverage equal to or greater than the limits recommended by your insurance agent. Proof of automobile insurance is required to be in your possession.
- All vehicle occupants must wear seat belts at all times.
- You must not operate a vehicle while impaired. Do not drive while intoxicated, fatigued, or on any medication that impairs your driving ability.
- You must not use a phone or text while driving. Phones may be used when the vehicle is safely parked off the road.
AWWEE is not responsible for any fines that directors, employees or volunteers receive while driving in connection with Association business or activities. In case of an accident - Stop at the scene of the accident or as close as you can without blocking traffic.
- Call 911 immediately to report the location and any known or possible injuries to those involved.
- If the accident results in minor damage and no injury, move the vehicles to a safe place before contacting the police.
- Give any help you can if someone is obviously injured, but do not attempt to move an injured person unless you have the necessary medical training or if there is an immediate danger such as fire.
- Exchange information with the other people involved in the accident. This includes name, address, driver’s license number, phone number and insurance company name.
- If you are involved in an accident with an unattended vehicle, you must make a reasonable effort to locate the owner. You must also make a reasonable effort to locate the owner of other property that may be damaged. If no owner can be located, leave a note that includes the date and time of the accident along with the information described above. You must also report the accident to the police within 24 hours.
- Report the incident to the Executive Director or any member of the Board of Directors immediately.
- Complete the Driver’s Collision Report Form (attached).
VOLUNTEER DRIVER WAIVER FORM The Association of Women in Water, Energy and Environment (AWWEE) does not provide automobile insurance coverage for volunteers who drive their personal vehicles in connection with AWWEE business or activities. Volunteers driving in connection with AWWEE business or activities MUST provide proof of current automobile liability insurance for their personal vehicles. Proof of insurance on record with AWWEE must be updated upon renewal. Volunteers shall also notify AWWEE if their insurance coverage has been terminated or changes. The volunteer's personal automobile insurance will be PRIMARY and the Association of Women in Water, Energy and Environment’s insurance will be EXCESS in resolving third party liability claims associated with any accident that takes place while the volunteer is driving her/his own vehicle on Association business or activities. By signing below, you are indicating that you have read, understood and will abide by the Association of Women in Water, Energy and Environment’s policy with regard to volunteer drivers.
