During the registration process, parents must sign the Parent/Dancer Agreement form in order to ensure a clear understanding of our studio policies and procedures. This agreement helps you to have a trouble-free experience while dancing at our studio.

Studio Policies

Monthly Tuition:

•  Our semesters are 20 weeks if you register in August for levels 1-6.  Each month’s tuition is divided over 5 months. By registering you are committing to the full dance season of 2023-2024 and therefore liable for 10 tuition payments. creative Movement and Pre-Ballet are only per semester therefore only liable to pay for five months. Tuition covers the cost of classes, rehearsals, coaching, and the student's participation in the performances of choice for all their enrolled classes. Costumes are property of The Dancer Project Conservatory. Tickets for the performances are NOT included in the tuition price. If you register in January you will be following the sames rules above except it is a five month committment, January to May and will be 5 tuition payments.

•  Payment is due on the first day of each month. Prior to the season starting, you will be sent CC Authorization Monthly Contract Form for tuition for 10 months (5 months if registering in January or for Creative Movement and Pre-Ballet). If you tuition charge is declined and the payment is not made by the 1st, you will be charged a $25 late fee and a $5 charge for a new CC form to be added to the student file. No one likes a late fee, but everyone has bills!

•  If you decide to partake in the performance training division, but wish to opt out of the performances per semester, they may still partake in all the classes up until the performance day. They can learn the dances, but may not be given a specific placement in the piece rehearsed. Please note, that you will not be ordered or made a costume and we may not have extras dependent on the class that they could wear when we start practicing in their costumes. You will need to explain this to your child so there won't be any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. When prompted below, please note if you will or will not be partaking in the performance. Your tuition price is set if you are in or out of the performance. Please don't ask for a discount.

•  We do NOT accept cash or checks.

•  Monthly tuition payments are non-refundable and non-transferable! If you chose to leave during either semester, you are required to pay the remaining full tuition cost for that semester and will lose your place in the class. Know that you are committing to pay for 5 months for the 1st semester and 5 months for the second. Students will not be allowed to take class if their account is delinquent for more than 30 days.

Attendance Policy:

•  As with any program, steady attendance is a requirement for success. Failure to meet such requirements can lead to adjustment in level.

•  Guardians are responsible for communicating absences to the dance studio director or dance instructor directly via email at thedancerprojectco@gmail.com or the Private Facebook Parent Group made through The Dancer Project Facebook Page at the start of the season. Please do not text our director's personal phone, she uses it for music and will likely be unable to see it.

•  Any student that misses 3 consecutive weeks or more may be required to forfeit their class space if no correspondence has been made to the studio and your CC will be charged for the remaining months of the semester and will likely not have a place choreographed in the class pieces.

•  Excessive absences could result in removal from recital piece.

•  Dress rehearsals are mandatory for performance participation. Listening to parent's feedback, our youngest classes: Creative Movement and Pre-Ballet  dress rehearsal will be the morning OF the performance day and NOT the night before when applicable. All other classes will have a dress rehearsal the evening before. As we grow in number and volunteers, we will continue to evolve and make adjustments to help performances and dress rehearsals be smooth nights for all families involved while learning from past performance experiences. We welcome all feedback and want families to feel heard. With some factors out of our hands, we want everyone to experience the magic that is performance art, and although we try, we know we can't accommodate everyone. Welcome to show biz!

Make-up Classes:

There are no refunds nor can missed classes be applied to subsequent months’ tuition. If the studio is needing to close please refer to that information below.

Addressing Issues

Unfortunately, like any business, we do make mistakes. We welcome you as parents to bring those to our attention. We do ask that you use discretion as you address them with us. We ask that any conversations that are sensitive and private in matter be held while classes are not in session and are addressed to the director. Our studio and lobby areas are small and staff are limited. If issues concern other parents or children, please do not address this issue at the studio. Please resolve the issue independently or make an appointment with the director to resolve the situation. We work very hard to keep you informed by e-mailing, updating our Website, postings AT the studio and on social media platforms. However, it is your responsibility to keep up to date by reading information provided and checking the information board and Website. If you have a question about the dance studio please do not ask instructors during or in-between classes. The Instructors have a very tight schedule and are not able to meet with parents during class because it can use up valuable class time. If you need to talk personally to an instructor please schedule an appointment so that the instructors can give you their full attention.

Please respect the instructor’s private time by NOT calling nor texting them at home especially after hours and early morning. As much as you enjoy off time after hours with your loved ones, they do as well. If you feel it's an emergency, please email thedancerprojectco@gmail.com.

Studio Rules for Parents and COVID-19 Protocols

Parents/Guardian and siblings who have ALL submitted the separate COVID-19 Studio waiver and until further notice wear a face mask/covering are permitted to observe class during the class in the lobby after studio temperature screening. Once more, ALL observers will be required to wear a mask/face covering until further notice. We ask that ALL individuals of serate households maintain proper social distancing while in our studio and use floor markings provided. We will keep the french doors open, however, with our instructors working diligently with the dancers, any outside distractions that hamper their efforts, may require close the doors if deemed necessary.

I, the undersigned, will not, under any circumstances, hold The Dancer Project Conservatory LLC or The Dancer Project, Inc or its representatives responsible for any harm that may come to my child while he,she, or them is on the premises. If I am unavailable, The Dancer Project Conservatory LLC or The Dancer Project Inc's employees or representatives have permission to seek medical care for my child, as needed.

I acknowledge the contagious nature of the Coronavirus/COVID-19 and that the CDC and many other public health authorities still recommend practicing social distancing.

I further acknowledge that The Dancer Project Conservatory LLC and The Dancer Project, Inc has put in place preventative measures to reduce the spread of the COVID-19.

I further acknowledge that The Dancer Project Conservatory LLC or The Dancer Project, Inc can not guarantee that one will not become infected with the COVID-19. I voluntarily seek classes provided at The Dancer Project Conservatory LLC and The Dancer Project, Inc and acknowledge that I am increasing my risk of exposure to COVID-19. I acknowledge that I must comply with all set procedures to reduce the spread while attending classes.

Dancers and specific levels/age groups may be required to wear mask/face coverings through out the season during class to help slow the spread and for their protection. You will be notified via email of any such updates.

DROP OFF and PICK UP PROCEEDURES: Teachers cannot be responsible for dancers after their class time is complete. In the efforts to avoid class groups of parents and students to not cross over to other classes and to properly sanitize the lobby and studio for the next class:

DROP OFF your student(s) is only allotted to arrive for no more than 15 minutes prior to the start of their class. They will not be allowed to enter the studio space but may remain in the lobby until then.

PICK UP procedure:

1. Parents/legal guardians: come into the lobby space to wait for your child's class to be dismissed or come to the front door from the parking lot.

Other Rules of Note:

  • Please check your child's dress code. It is strictly enforced. There is a reason for a specific dance uniform for the ability for. the instructor to properly see alignment and correct accordingly, but also it gets the dancers mindset in the correct place. Also, due to covid-19, the teachers and class assists will no longer be able to help your child do their bun or ballet updo. Levels 2 onwards do no allow pony tails. This is for technique of turns to keep hair out of their face for proper technique. If you need help, email thedancerprojectco@gmail.com.
  • Please be careful of conversation topics because there are many “little ears” around. Please do not talk about adult topics, other dancers or parents, or instructors. This is not appropriate for the lobby area. If you have a problem regarding the instructors, other students, or parents, please see the director to discuss it. By talking about it in the lobby you are undermining the instructor’s authority or hurting the feelings of other dancers and their parents. Please help us to promote the most positive environment and make everyone feel welcome.
  • No gossip, obscene language or inappropriate conversations are tolerated by either parents or dancers.
  • Help keep our studio clean and tidy. Please throw away all trash. Do NOT dispose of dirty diapers in our bathrooms. Please use the trash can that is by the front door. NO FOOD OR DRINK is allowed by any observers at the studio other than water. DO NOT BRING COFFEE MUGS TO THE STUDIO OR ANY FOOD CONTAINERS.
  • There is to be No running, yelling or rough playing at the dance studio by students, parents, or siblings.
  • While your child is in a class, the instructor is in charge. Please refrain from disciplining or correcting your child from the sidelines. It is very disrespectful and very distracting.
  • Please silence or turn off your cell phone upon entering the studio.
  • Due to safety reason, You must get written permission for your child to arrive and change at the studio. There will be a separate procedure list for this to occur. Otherwise, please have your child arrive at the studio in their dress code per their class.
  • Social Media is a huge platform for small businesses. We ask that you feel free and encourage you to tag us in it to help promote your dance studio home!
  • Children and Observers will be asked to use hand sanitizer (ours provided or yours) and/or wash hands prior to class time. No exceptions.
  • If you anticipate your child leaving early, and you have not stayed for the duration of the class up until that point, and it is well before the rules listed above in our PICK UP Procedures, you must wait outside the front door and your child will meet you there.
  • IF local governance require the studio to shut down like in the Spring of 2020, ALL classes will be moved to video platform via zoom. If however they only require limited class sizes, we will do everything in our power to promptly adjust classes in order to safely meet in studio/in person with zoom as an option for families as well.

Photography Usage

We ask that you please grant permission for us to use images and videos of your child via social media and other outlets. (The Dancer Project Conservatory and The Dancer Project Inc never sells images or uses them for external advertising purposes without direct, individual consent via a separate consent mechanism.) Please check the box when prompted to note that you have read this policy, then write OPT OUT in the COMMENTS box below if you prefer we NOT share images and/or videos that include your child.

Videotaping during Recital and Dress Rehearsal

Videotaping during our performances is strictly prohibited. The recital will be taped using professional equipment, and digital copies will be available for purchase through Mediazilla. There is a great deal of editing involved for our videos’s. Please allow 8 weeks or more for arrival of the filmed performances.

Snow or Bad Weather Days

The studio will usually, but not always, follow the Metro Public Schools decision on class cancellation for bad weather. We will post updates on our social media platforms (facebook, instagram, and parent group on facebook) by 3:00 p.m. if class is canceled. It is up to you to use your platform of choice to follow. The Dancer Project reserves the right to cancel classes at our discretion. We will not put any child in danger due to weather. Any classes that are missed or canceled due to bad weather can be made-up by attending another class close to the same level the following week. Arrange this with your teacher's advice on level. When applicable, we will send a zoom link and the classes will be done via zoom.

Holidays

The studio will be closed for the following Holidays: Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Winter Break, and Memorial Day. Dancers who have class that falls on Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Memorial Day will have can make-up class options sent to the families for the following week. Please print the studio calendar for your records provided from the website.

For Dancers

 Promptness

•  Promptness is extremely important! Especially in the world we are living in and health protocols, if you arrive after of the 10 minute window prior to our class time, you may not be allowed admittance into the space dependent on who we have available to check your temperature. PLEASE follow the protocols set in place for your and our safety.

•  Dancers need adequate time in order to be physically and mentally prepared for the demands of the dance class. Besides the first class of the day who may have written exceptions and permission from the director, you must arrive in your full dance attire/dress code with your hair done. Period.

• Due to health reason, for the time being, no extra bags will be allowed into the dance space other than one that holds your dance needs (IE dance shoes, clean socks if needed, water bottles, ballet skirt if allowed via your class, etc.). NO SCHOOL BAGS. NO DOLLS or STUFFIES from home.

•  Students who arrive more than 15 minutes late will be asked to observe class.

IMPORTANT Dance Etiquette

At our studio, our primary goal is for your children to have fun while learning dance technique and a strong work ethic. We expect all dancers to show respect to themselves, each other and all instructors. You will see our instructors enforcing the following rules:

•  Be prepared for class. Proper dress code (if applicable) is required for all dance classes. That information is on our website.

•  Hair must be pulled up and secured back. For levels 2 on up, a bun or up do is mandatory.

•  Use bathroom prior to class.

•  Do not have frequent class absences.

•  No cell phones in the dance studio.

•  No gum is allowed in class.

•  Be respectful and kind to instructors, peers and staff.

•  Do not talk during class unless you are asking a question.

•  Be willing to try new dance material. Put positive energy into your dance class.

•  No leaning, lounging or hanging on the ballet barres and do NOT touch our mirrors.

•  Clap at the end of class to show respect for yourself, your fellow dancers and alway approach the instructor and say 'thank you'.

•  If injured, tell instructor prior to class… work slowly & carefully or observe.

•   If ill, do not come to class.

We believe that good dance etiquette is of equal importance to good dance technique. Any student who behaves in a way that is distracting to other students may be asked to sit out of class. If the behavior is consistent, the student may be dismissed from the class. In most cases, that action is only necessary with children not yet mature enough for class, and they return later with much success. (In such cases, fees paid for classes that will not be attended will be refunded.)

 Studio Rules for Dancers:

•  No running, yelling or rough playing at the dance studio.

•  Help keep your studio clean and tidy. Please throw away all trash.

•  No gossip, obscene language or inappropriate conversations are tolerated during class or around the studio.

•  No gum, food or drink of any kind (except water) is allowed inside the studio.

 For age 10 and up:

•   As an older dancer and role model, inappropriate conversations or negative discussions are not allowed at the studio and especially in front of younger dancers.

•   It is the dancer’s responsibility to manage their time so that dance, schoolwork, and other outside activities do not conflict.

BEHAVIOR POLICY:

We are committed to educate our students, model behaviors, and help dancers grow with love and respect in this program. If for any reason a student does not meet the expectations outlined above, The Dancer Project enforces a 3-strike policy with regard to students misbehaving at the studio – in or outside of class.

– Strike 1 is a warning; student is still able to participate in dance class. Parents or Guardian will be notified and will be asked to observe class, if not already present, for the remainder of the semester. No exceptions.

– Strike 2 is an in class time-out, student will be asked to sit to the side of the classroom and observe. The instructor will determine the length of time for the time-out.

– Strike 3 the student will be asked to leave the classroom and sit in the lobby until class is finished. In the case of a Strike 3, the teacher will talk to both student and parent about behavior issues and steps to take to improve the learning experience. If this is not adhered to, the student will be dismissed from The Dancer Project Conservatory. There will be no refunds for past tuition months.

THE THREE-CLAP RULE

Teachers may choose to initiate a three-clap rule, particularly useful for re-gathering attention after a water break or after group work. Teachers clap three times in a rhythm and students are to repeat the claps back – signaling quiet voices and attention to the teacher.
