Membership and Dues Schedule

*All monthly membership are automatically renew. Members have control of the membership renewal under the subscription tab in your FUSE login Account. 

** By signing this form Member hereby authorizes credit card to be charged monthly during the term of a membership or locker agreement.

*** Must provide current student schedule each term for student rate, faculty or staff ID for education institution. Education membership is provided for students, faculty, and staff of both K-12 and Higher Education. Separate from student access for students in for credit classes run in the Makerspace.

*** Must provide Military ID or documents showing current or former service status to receive military discount.

All memberships must be paid for by credit card. Memberships will be auto renewed (see terms below.)

Term

The term of this Agreement begins on the Membership Effective Date and will continue on a recurring basis as described in the Membership and Dues Schedule. Membership cancellations can be controlled by the member FUSE Login portal under subscriptions. All request for cancelation of membership via staff must be received by email to info@fusemakerspace.org at least 5 days prior beginning of the final month of membership.

Immediate Termination

FUSE Makerspace may immediately terminate the rights granted to members and guests if a member or guest violates the CNM Student and Visitor Code of Conduct or any policy and rules outlined in this document or posted. If termination occurs any fees paid will be forfeited.

Maker Violations

  • FUSE Makerspace has safety are the primary concern. All member/individual must adhere to the dress code and personal protective equipment policies.
  • Members are only allowed to operate equipment they have taken Basic Operation and Safety course, Extended Operation and Safety Course, or Qualification Assessments on.
  • No individual/member is allowed to make or enhance a weapon of any kind in the Makerspace: knife, axe, explosives, or firearm.
  • Misuse of equipment can result in loss of accesses to the Makerspace
  •  Members/Individuals must treat all other members, staff, and instructors with respect and adhere to the CNM’s Student and Visitor Code of Conduct. https://www.cnm.edu/depts/dean-of-students/student-code-of-conduct If found being disrespect and not following code of conduct you will be asked to leave and can result in the loss of membership.
  • Members/Individuals must only be working in the space during the hours of weekly operations unless they have a business membership.
  • Members/Individuals are not allowed to be at the makerspace or use any equipment if under the influence of drugs and alcohol. FUSE Makerspace has a zero tolerance policy.

Safety

Fuse Makerspace is committed to providing a safe environment for all members, clients and guests. Safety requirements for areas of the lab are posted in the lab area.

Safety is crucial, if you are unsure of how to safely do something ask questions. Trained employees are available to assist. Be aware of your environment and those sharing the space. Communication when working with dangerous equipment makes for a safer environment for everyone. Below are safety policy and procedures to assist in keeping everyone at FUSE Makerspace safe.

Hours of Operation

  • Monday 10am-6pm, Tuesday-Thursday 10am-8:30pm, and Friday-Sunday 10am-6pm.
  • Machines are off at 8:15pm on nights closing at 8:30pm and 5:45pm on nights closing at 6pm; clean up begins.
  • Non Business members accesses during Operational Hours Only
  • Only Business members are allowed 24 hours 7 day a week accesses

Dress Code

The dress code and required safety equipment must be worn.

  • Closed toe shoes must be worn at all times, in all areas.
  • In areas involving working with high temperatures (welding, plasma table) long- sleeved shirts and long pants are required. Clothing should be made from natural fibers or leather.
  • Proper eye protection must be worn in the metal and wood shop at all times.
  • When using most power tools, especially drills, saws, mills and lathes, you must wear short-sleeved shirts or fitted, cuffed long sleeves and remove hanging jewelry. Safety glasses must be worn when operating power tools.
  • Long hair must be secured while working on the 1st floor of FUSE Makerspace.
  • Check class listing for mandatory and advisable safety equipment.
  • Equipment or clothing listed as mandatory must be worn or used while working with that equipment or taking that class.
  • Equipment listed as advisable is a suggestion but not mandatory.
  • Some mandatory equipment/clothing may be available for loan or sale.

Storage

FUSE Makerspace is not a storage facility. Project and materials left in areas not designed for project storage will be considered donated.

  • Projects and materials stored with a Blue tag in the designated Project Storage Area for up to 7 days
  • Projects with a Blue tag past the 7 day mark must be updated with a Tech or move to an Orange tag
  • Orange tags represent the abandonment of a project and you must remove the items with in 7 days. 
  • Items considered harmful to others may not be stored.
  • Firearms, gunpowder, primers, and assembled ammunition cannot be on the CNM campus, therefore cannot be stored at FUSE Makerspace.

Class Policy and Student Responsibilities

Before use of equipment all members must attend the required Operating and Safety class. Some areas require more than one class to use all equipment. Members can sign-up for classes through the FUSE website. Classes are offered on a regular basis to ensure members have access to community equipment needed to build their dreams.

Members or guests will not be allowed to attend class if their attire is deemed inappropriate. Additional information about required and recommended safety equipment and clothing is listed in the class description. It is the responsibility of the member or guest to ensure they are in compliance with all class requirements. Class cancelation and refunds

Ages:

We expect active adult supervision of any minor under the age of 16 at all time. Children under the age of 16 must be supervised at all times while working in the space.

  • Minors must be between 12-17 years of age to be eligible for membership.
  • Minors 17 and under must be accompanied by a parent, legal guardian or designated adult at all times and are not allowed to have keys to the space.
  • Parents/Legal Guardians are responsible for their children and their actions.
  • Minors under the age of 18 must have waiver of liability form signed by a Parent or Legal Guardian.
  • Minors 16 through 17 years of age may use designated equipment and areas independently. Some equipment/areas (Wood Shop and Metal Shop) require direct supervision of a parent, legal guardian or authorized adult or are restricted from use altogether.
  • Parent, legal guardian or designated adult must take and pass the Operating and Safety trainings for all pieces of equipment on which they will be providing supervision to minors.
  • Parent, legal guardian or designated adult must pay for their seat when in-class supervision is required (exceptions will be made for adults who have previously taken the class)

Reschedule:

Email info@fusemakerspace.org or call the FUSE front office (505-224-3873) as soon as possible, minimum of 8 hours before the start of the workshop to reschedule.

Running Late:

Call the FUSE front office (505-224-3873) if you are running late. Class spots will be released to anyone on the waitlist 15 minutes after the start of class. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late and have not contacted us, you will be considered a no-show. You will not be refunded, and you will not be allowed to join the class, even if no one on the waitlist has claimed your spot. Late arrivals disrupt class and impact the experience of other participants.

Cancelation, No-Show, & Refund

 Email info@fusemakerspace.org or call the FUSE front office (505-224-3873) as soon as possible. Our workshops frequently sell out in advance and early notification allows us to offer a spot to someone on the waitlist. 

No-shows and cancellations less then 8 hours before the training will not be refunded or rescheduled. 

When requesting a refund email info@fusemakerspace.org Refund will only be granted when contacting FUSE 8 hours in advanced of the workshop. The payment processor retains a 3% fee that is non refundable and will take 3-5 business days for the system to process the refund to your card.

Disability-related Accommodations

CNM and CNMI is committed to making classes and programs accessible for members and students. If you require disability-related accommodations to access FUSE workshops, please notify us at info@fusemakerspace.org as far in advance as possible to allow time to collaborate with CNM’s Disability Resource Center. The CNM Disability Resource Center assists students with disabilities to access programs offered at CNM and CNM Ingenuity sites, including FUSE Makerspace. In order to receive accommodations, FUSE members and students must provide their FUSE instructors with CNM Disability Resource Center documentation; accommodations are not retroactive and are not arranged prior to receiving documentation from the Disability Resource Center.

Retail Store

Members have access to the basic supplies through the retail store located within FUSE Makerspace. A list of items for sale is available.

All items must be paid for at time of purchased. FUS can only accept card payments.

Lending Center

All tools and equipment available in Lending Center must be checked out using a FUSE Makerspace ID by an employee. All items must be return the same day they are checked out.

To use the Lending Center:

  • Membership status current
  • All previous Lending Center items returned
  • BOS or EOS class requirement met (if applicable)

Guests

FUSE Makerspace is happy to have guests visit the space. Tours will be given if time and conditions allow. Guests can set-up a time to come back for a tour if one cannot be given the day of the visit. Guests are not allowed to use tools or equipment, except as part of a scheduled class/workshop. Guests must observe all safety requirements and instructions of FUSE Makerspace employees.

Rights of Publicity

Clients/Members grant FUSE Makerspace the right to photograph and videotape Client/Member and Client/Member’s materials and projects and to use, copy, modify, publish and distribute such photographs and videotapes.

Member also hereby releases, discharges, and agrees to hold harmless FUSE Makerspace, CNM Ingenuity, Inc. and Central New Mexico Community College its employees, insurers, affiliated entities and agents from any liability by virtue of any blurring, distortion, alteration, optical illusion, or use in composite form whether intentional or otherwise, that may occur or be produced in the taking of said picture or in any subsequent processing thereof, as well as any publication thereof.

Rules and policies are subject to change. Changes will be posted through the membership site, fusemakerspace.org and posted in the lab.

By signing below, I acknowledge the receipt of the policy and procedures for FUSE Makerspace. I understand I am responsible for my actions while in the lab or at sponsored events. Any violation may lead to suspension or termination of my membership immediately.

Waiver of Liability & Release

I, in consideration for receiving permission to participate at FUSE Makerspace or a FUSE Makerspace event I hereby RELEASE, WAIVE, DISCHARGE AND COVENANT NOT TO SUE, FUSE Makerspace, CNM Ingenuity Inc. or Central New Mexico Community College, their employees, insurers, affiliated entities, or agents (hereinafter referred to as “RELEASEES”) from any and all liability, claims, demands, actions and causes of action whatsoever arising out of or related to any loss, damage, or injury, including death, that may be sustained by me, or any of the property belonging to me. Whether caused by the negligence of the Releases, or otherwise, while participating in such activity, or while in, on or upon the premises where the activity is being conducted.

I am fully aware of the unusual risks involved and hazards connected with activities and materials used in at FUSE Makerspace. I hereby elect to voluntarily participate in the activities within the FUSE Makerspace with full knowledge that said activity may be hazardous to me and my property. I VOLUNTARILY AND KNOWINGLY ASSUME FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY RISKS OF LOSS, PROPERTY DAMAGE OR PERSONAL INJURY, INCLUDING DEATH, that may be sustained by me, or any loss or damage of property owned by me, as a result of being engaged in such activity, whether caused by the action, inaction or negligence of the Releasees, or otherwise.

I further hereby agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Releasees from any claim, loss, liability, damage or costs, including court costs and attorney fees, that they may incur due to my participation in said activities, whether caused by the action, inaction or negligence of the Releasees, or otherwise.

It is my express intent that this Waiver of Liability and Hold Harmless Agreement shall bind the members of my family and spouse, if I am alive, and my heirs, assigns and personal representative, if I am deceased, and shall be deemed as a RELEASE, WAIVER, DISCHARGE AND COVENANT NOT TO SUE the above-named Releasees.

IN SIGNING THIS RELEASE, I ACKNOWLEDGE AND REPRESENT THAT I have read the foregoing Waiver of Liability and Hold Harmless Agreement, understand it and sign it voluntarily as my own free act and deed; no oral representations, statements, or inducements, apart from the foregoing written agreement, have been made; I am at least eighteen (18) years of age and fully competent (or I am having my parent or legal guardian sign with me); and I execute this Release for full, adequate and complete consideration fully intending to be bound by same.

This Release is governed by New Mexico law. If any of the provisions of this Agreement are found to be unenforceable, the remainder shall be enforced as fully as possible and the unenforceable provision(s) shall be deemed modified to the limited extent required to permit enforcement of the Agreement as a whole.
