GYM RULES Admission - Upon entering the gym, students are responsible for their check in.
- First-time and visiting students must check in at the office.
- Past 15 minutes late, students will not be admitted to class.
Conduct and Demeanor - Communicate with the instructor before entering or exiting class.
- Communicate with the instructor any injuries or concerns.
- Follow the directions of the instructor at all times.
- Refrain from using loud, foul, slanderous, or offensive language and from harassing, molesting, badgering, taunting, or soliciting other individuals.
- In no event shall student’s behavior, demeanor, hygiene, or attitude be in any way offensive, threatening, intimidating, unsanitary or in any manner contrary to the best interest of the membership as a whole.
- Cell phones must be turned on vibrate or silent.
- No earbuds or airpods worn during class.
Dress Code and Required Equipment - With the exception of wrestling shoes, no outside footwear is allowed on the mats.
- Footwear must be worn off the training areas and in the restrooms.
- Jewelry, including rings, watches, bracelets, necklaces, chains, piercings, and earrings must be removed when training martial arts.
Grooming and Hygiene - Students must maintain a high level of personal hygiene and be free of body odor and bad breath.
- All clothing and equipment must be clean and free of odor.
- Fingernails and toenails must be smooth and trimmed for all martial arts classes.
- Students may not train with any communicable skin conditions.
- When taking back to back classes students must have a clean, dry shirt for the second class.
Striking - All contact should be light and controlled.
- 12-16oz boxing gloves and shin guards are mandatory. The coach/front desk deems which glove size is appropriate.
- The use of hand wraps and groin protection (men) are recommended in contact classes.
- The use of a mouthpiece is mandatory in contact classes.
- Never strike to injure your training partner. Good control must be exercised at all times. This also includes emotion control. Communicate with both your training partner and instructor if you are ever uncomfortable with anything that transpires during training.
- Treat your training partner the way you would like to be treated. Use an intensity and pace that both you and your training partner are comfortable with.
Grappling and Submissions - Tap anytime you feel an uncomfortable amount of pressure on any part of your body. Tapping can be performed physically or verbally. In the event that you are unable to physically tap, clearly say the word "tap" to your training partner.
- When your training partner taps, immediately stop applying pressure and release the hold.
- No small joint (fingers, toes) manipulation. No contact to the eyes, mouth or groin of any kind.
- Never grapple to injure your training partner. Good control must be exercised at all times. This also includes emotion control. Communicate with both your training partner and instructor if you are ever uncomfortable with anything that transpires during training.
- Treat your training partner the way you would like to be treated. Use an intensity and pace that both you and your training partner are comfortable with.
Strength & Performance Training - Clean and put away equipment in its appropriate location after use.
- Be respectful of the equipment, the space, and your neighboring training partners.
- Wear appropriate clothing and footwear for the training.
- Use proper progressions as directed by your coach.
