ACKNOWLEDGEMENT AND ACCEPTANCE OF RISKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As part of my participation in the activities offered by Centre d'escalade Beta inc., including bouldering (without rope or harness) and physical training related to bouldering, I agree as follows: 

I acknowledge that Centre d'escalade Beta inc. has taken all reasonable and responsible measures in order to provide me with a safe environment and allow me to take full advantage of the activities previously described, including the implementation of safety rules, regulations and guidelines as well as the training of participants by competent and qualified instructors. 

I agree to undergo any training required by Centre d'escalade Beta inc. in order to participate in the activities, to pay special attention to the training and to put into practice the lessons received. I acknowledge that it is my exclusive responsibility to actively participate in any training and to ask any questions and/or require any clarification or additional training that I consider appropriate to practice the activities. 

I undertake to act in a cautious and diligent manner before, during and after practicing the activities. Accordingly, I undertake to familiarize myself with and to abide by, without delay, all the safety guidelines and regulations put into place and applied by Centre d'escalade Beta inc., including the rules hereafter attached as well as any regulations, guidelines or instructions displayed on the premises of Centre d'escalade Beta inc. 

I undertake not to consume and/or not to be under the influence of drugs (legal or illegal), alcohol or other substances that may affect my abilities before or during practice of the activities, in or around the center. I understand that Centre d'escalade Beta inc. encourages the practice of healthy physical activity. I acknowledge that consuming and/or being under the influence of drugs (legal or illegal), alcohol or other substances that may affect my abilities is dangerous and may put my safety at risk as well as the safety of other participants. 

I acknowledge, understand and accept that Centre d'escalade Beta inc. and its representatives and/or employees reserve the right to refuse, suspend the right of access to the center or expel (without possibility of reimbursement) anyone who demonstrates an attitude that is dangerous, careless and/or that does not comply with the guidelines, regulations and policies of Centre d'escalade Beta inc. 

I acknowledge, understand and accept that it is not possible to eliminate certain inherent risks involved when practicing the activities and attending the center, regardless of the level of supervision of Centre d'escalade Beta inc. and my level of ability, including but not limited to the following risks: 

  • Injuries, illnesses, traumas and/or deaths related to my presence at the center and/or to the practice of the activities, alone or in a group, with or without supervision, including namely any injuries, illnesses, traumas and/or deaths directly or indirectly related to falling, tripping, slipping or crashing to the floor or against the wall or equipment when using the facilities, equipment, climbing walls, ladders to descend, boulders, mattresses, floors under climbing areas, training areas, sanitary facilities or stairs, as well as any risks related to the compliant or non-compliant, adequate or inadequate, usual or abusive use of these by any participant and/or the undersigned; 
  • Injuries, illnesses, traumas and/or deaths related to any contact or intervention by or with any participant during the activities; 
  • Damage, loss or theft of personal belongings and/or equipment; 

I acknowledge, understand and accept that these risks may vary from one person to another and that my health status, physical condition and personal skills may influence my practicing of the activities. I hereby certify that I am able to fully participate in the activities. 

I undertake to inform and disclose to an instructor or staff member of Centre d'escalade Beta inc. if, during the practice of the activities, a particular health problem or condition that could complicate or prevent my participation in the activities arises, including fatigue, vertigo, chills and/or dizziness, bruising, scratching or scuffing caused by the equipment. Notwithstanding the foregoing, I acknowledge and accept that I am the sole judge of my ability to participate in the activities and accept all the risks related to my decision to continue practicing these activities despite a particular health problem or condition that arises during the activities. 

I undertake to act responsibly in order to minimize the risks associated to my behavior and to foster a preventative attitude towards myself and towards other participants. 

In the event of an accident, discomfort or otherwise, I acknowledge that Centre d'escalade Beta inc., its representatives and/or employees may provide me with first aid, where required, and, if necessary, transport me or have me transported to a medical center or hospital at my entire costs.

I acknowledge that Centre d'escalade Beta inc. and its representatives may use any photographs, images or videos of the undersigned, I waive all rights regarding these photographs, images and/or videos and I authorize Centre d'escalade Beta inc. to exploit, disseminate or otherwise use them for promotional or other purposes, without compensation.

I acknowledge that Centre d'escalade Beta inc., its representatives and/or employees cannot be held liable for any damages related to my belongings (namely wear and tear, breakage, loss and/or theft) and I waive any claim or right whatsoever in this regard. 

COVID-19

COVID-19 has been declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO). COVID-19 is extremely contagious and is believed to spread mainly through person-to-person contact. Therefore, local, provincial and federal government authorities recommend various measures and prohibit various behaviors, all with the aim of reducing the spread of the virus.

Centre d'escalade Beta inc. commits to comply with all the requirements and recommendations of the Public Health of Quebec and other government authorities, and to put in place and adopt all the measures necessary for this purpose. However, Centre d'escalade Beta inc. cannot guarantee that you (or your child, if the participant is a minor / or the person for whom you are the tutor or legal guardian) will not be infected with COVID-19. In addition, your participation in activities could increase your risk of contracting COVID-19, despite all the measures in place.


By signing this document,

 

  1. I recognize the highly contagious nature of COVID-19 and I voluntarily assume the risk that I (or my child, if the participant is a minor / or the person for whom I am the guardian or legal representative) could be exposed or infected by COVID-19 through my (his/her) participation in Centre d'escalade Beta inc.’s activities. Exposure to or infection with COVID-19 can cause injury, illness or other conditions;
  2. I declare that my participation (or that of my child, if the participant is a minor / or the person of whom I am the tutor or legal guardian) in the activities of Centre d'escalade Beta inc. is voluntary;
  3. I declare that neither I (or my child, if the participant is a minor / or the person for whom I am the tutor or legal guardian), nor anyone living under my roof, has shown symptoms of a cold or flu (including fever, cough, sore throat, respiratory illness or difficulty breathing) in the past 14 days;
  4.  If I (or my child, if the participant is a minor / or the person of whom I am the guardian or legal guardian) experience symptoms of cold or flu after the signing of this declaration, I (or my child if the participant is a minor / or the person for whom I am the tutor or legal representative) undertake not to present myself or participate in Centre d'escalade Beta inc.’s activities for at least 14 days after the last manifestation of symptoms of colds or influenza.
  5.  I declare that neither I (or my child, if the participant is a minor / or the person for whom I am the tutor or legal guardian), nor any person living under my roof, has traveled or stopped over in the last 14 days in a region for which the provincial government or Quebec’s public health authorities recommend a period of isolation upon return.
  6. If I (or my child if the participant is a minor / or the person of whom I am the tutor or legal guardian) travel to such a region after having signed this declaration, I (or my child if the participant is a minor / or the person for whom I am the tutor or legal representative) undertake not to present myself or participate in Centre d'escalade Beta inc.’s activities for at least 14 days after the return.

This document will remain in effect until Centre d'escalade Beta inc. receives instructions from the provincial government authorities and the Quebec Public Health, to the effect that the commitments contained in this declaration are no longer necessary.

 

 

In the event that I sign this document for myself, I hereby declare that I have fully understood and accepted the risks and conditions set out above and I waive my right to any claim against Centre d'escalade Beta inc., its representatives and/or employees related to my practice of the activities. I would like to participate in the activities of Centre d'escalade Beta inc.:

In the event that I sign this document for a minor or minors, I hereby declare that I am the legal guardian of the minor participant(s). I also declare that I have informed the minor participant(s) about the content of this acknowledgement and acceptance of risks and I confirm that they agree with its terms and conditions.

In the event that I sign this document for a minor or minors, I sign this acknowledgement and acceptance of risks of the minor participant(s) and on their behalf(ves), and I consent, with full knowledge of the risks and conditions outlined above, that the minor participant(s) participate(s) in the activities of Centre d'escalade Beta inc.:

Centre d'escalade Beta inc. USER RULES AND CODE OF CONDUCT 

Climbing is a fun but dangerous sport. Following the code of conduct and especially the safety rules is crucial and mandatory, for your own safety and that of other users. 

The following regulations apply to all Centre d'escalade Beta inc. visitors. 

General: 

Every facility user must pay an entry fee before engaging in any activity. 

Do not litter; put your trash in the waste bins at your disposal. 

To keep the space clean, shoes and boots must be removed in the entryway, prior to entering the gym. Only shoes specifically for interior use will be permitted. 

Beta Bloc is not responsible for lost or stolen items; we strongly recommend the use of lockers for any object of value. Bring your own padlock. 

Any padlock found on a locker after closing time will be cut; contents of the lockers will be kept with the lost & found items. 

All lost & found items will be kept for 14 days. 

Children aged 12 and under must be accompanied at all times by an adult. The exact adult/children ratio varies according to the age of the children. The details can be found on the facility’s webpage or upon request at the reception counter. This policy may change anytime without warning. 

It is forbidden to run in the gym. 

All drinks must be contained in a closed recipient to avoid any undue spilling. Glass containers are not allowed. 

Persons using rental gear must return it in its initial condition at the end of their visit. 

Food and chewing gum are not allowed in the climbing or training areas. 

It is forbidden to climb or train under the influence of alcohol, cannabis or illicit substances. 


Climbing Area: 

It is forbidden to loiter in the landing or top-out areas; sitting on the mattresses is not allowed. 

It is forbidden to walk on the mattresses underneath a person who is climbing. 

Always check where your problem is headed to avoid crossing another climber’s problem. 

Don’t make others wait; take turns on a problem, one try at a time. 

Do not leave any objects on the mattresses. 

Maintain a safe distance between each climber on the wall. 

Do not climb barefooted; the use of climbing shoes is mandatory. 

All chalk must be contained in a bag specifically designed for such a purpose; plastic bags will not be tolerated. 

Practice climbing safely using common sense. When in doubt ask a qualified staff member for help. 

Do not take risks by attempting moves for which you are not confidant. 


Training Area: 

It is highly recommended to wear indoor sport shoes for working out in the training area. 

Access to the training area is available only to persons aged 16 and up. Minors must also have parental consent. 

To avoid any damage or injury, only use equipment for the purposes it was designed for. 

When in doubt about the proper use of a piece of equipment, ask a qualified staff member for help. 

Do not put your feet on the rungs of the campus board. 

It is forbidden to climb the Kilter Board while the Kilter Board is in movement. 

Do not drop the free weights or plates on the flooring. 

Do not lean any weight, plate or barbell against a wall, a column, a piece of equipment or a mirror. 

The free weights and related material must stay within the area assigned for their use. 

Always use a spotter if you are going to bench press. 

Always use a collar when you use a barbell. 

Wipe down any equipment after use. 

Put away any portable equipment after use. 

Do not take any equipment out of the training area. 

Avoid taking risks; only lift weights that you can manage. Do not try out techniques you do not master. 

Don’t make others wait; don’t block equipment while resting in between sets. 

Facilitate traffic and access to equipment; don’t obstruct or clutter up the pathways. 


Bistro Area: 

All food and drink must be consumed within the Bistro area. 

It is forbidden to climb or train after having consumed any alcohol. 

Alcohol consumption is forbidden under the age of 18; a piece of I.D. may be requested. 


Centre d'escalade Beta inc. reserves the right to modify these regulations at any time.
