This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect the information provided through our waiver forms (the “Waiver”). By signing the Waiver, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

When you complete the Waiver, we may collect the following personal information:

  • Emergency Contact Information: The name and contact details of a person to be notified in case of emergency.
  • Health Information: Any disclosed medical conditions, allergies, or relevant health information that may be needed to ensure your safety during the activity.
  • Participant Information: If applicable, we may collect information about your age, experience level, or other relevant details specific to the activity.


2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information collected through the Waiver for the following purposes:

  • To ensure participant safety and manage any health-related concerns.
  • To communicate with you about the event or activity for which you signed the Waiver.
  • To contact your emergency contact if necessary.
  • To comply with any legal requirements or respond to legal inquiries.

We may also use anonymized data for internal purposes, such as improving our activities and services.

I, the undersigned, agree to volunteer for the Walnut Creek Open Space Foundation (“WCOSF”) restoration activities (“Activities”) for calendar year 2026.

I recognize that there are inherent dangers in the Activities and I assume the risks associated with the Activities. I hereby release and hold harmless WCOSF, its directors, officers, and agents from any liability or claim that I may have related to any injury to my person or property that arises from the Activities, including any first aid, treatment, or services rendered by WCOSF or anyone acting on behalf of WCOSF. I further release the City of Walnut Creek, its officials, employees, agents, representatives, and volunteers from such liabilities. I make this release for myself, any heirs, etc., and take complete responsibility for my actions and safety while participating in Activities.

I understand that participating in the Activities may involve elevation change, steep and muddy terrain, and difficult conditions, including, but not limited to, hot or cold weather, poison oak, sharp tools, rain, and the like. I will not proceed with the Activities if I am having difficulty. I will turn back or stop work early if necessary. 

I agree to abide by all rules and instructions provided to me by WCOSF, to close gates, remove all materials I carry with me, not to impact private equipment or livestock, and to respect the lands I will work on. I agree not to bring or allow other people onto the properties I am conducting Activities on unless I receive prior approval from WCOSF. I understand that some of these properties are not open to the public and may contain additional hazards. I know I can use my own tools, but WCOSF is not responsible for replacement in case of loss. 

I also understand that I may be photographed or recorded by WCOSF while undertaking Activities. The WCOSF may publish photographs, videos, and audio recordings to promote future events or WCOSF programs. I grant and convey to WCOSF all rights, titles, and interests in such materials. I release WCOSF, the photographer, and any publishers from any liability associated with the materials and their use. 

The laws of California govern this waiver; if any part of it is held to be invalid, the invalidity shall not affect its remaining provisions, which will remain enforceable. This waiver is valid from September 3, 2026 until December 31, 2026.
