EXPECTATIONS AND GUIDELINES
DATES AND LOCATION
NEW LOCATION! The 2020 Spring Production will take place at the School for Creative and Performing Arts at 108 West Central Parkway, just a few blocks away from the Ballet Center. There are two performances of the Main Division Spring Production: one on Friday evening, May 15 and another on Saturday evening, May 16, 2020. All students will perform in both performances. Tickets are required for all individuals desiring admission to Spring Production.
THEATER WEEK REHEARSALS
All students are required to attend spacing, technical and dress rehearsals so they may be fully prepared to perform to the best of their ability and be familiar with the stage and technical elements involved in Spring Production. These rehearsals will take place at either the Cincinnati Ballet Center OR at the School for Creative and Performing Arts on the following dates: Monday, May 11 – Thursday, May 14, 2020. Students will be required to rehearse on all of the above-listed dates. This rehearsal schedule will be made available at least three weeks prior to the first rehearsal.
For the benefit of a technically and artistically excellent Spring Production performance, additional weekend rehearsals will take place at the Cincinnati Ballet Center on the following dates: For students in Levels 1 – 2, weekend rehearsals on April 25 and May 2 & 9 will be mandatory. For students in Levels 3 – 7, weekend rehearsals on April 18 & 25 and May 2 & 9 will be mandatory. Level 5 – 7 students may have additional rehearsal on April 26 if needed. As these rehearsals are mandatory, only one (1) absence during these rehearsals will be excused. A preliminary schedule of weekend rehearsals will be made available by February 1, 2020 so families can plan accordingly. A finalized and updated schedule of weekend rehearsals with additional details will be made available by March 25, 2020.
PERFORMANCE CLASS REHEARSALS
All regularly scheduled performance classes will begin rehearsing their Spring Production piece in January 2020. Once rehearsals in performance classes have commenced, students may not incur more than two (2) excused absences. The only additional excused absence is for students with academic spring breaks different from the Academy spring break. Please be sure to inform the Academy of any conflicts with performance class rehearsals by calling 513.621.5219 or emailing email@example.com.
Again this year, we want to ensure that students participating in elective classes have opportunity to perform for their families. As such, we will hold an Elective Showcase on Sunday, May 3, 2020 at the Ballet Center. More details to come. The Elective Showcase will include Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced Modern, Level 1/2 Musical Theater Dance, Level 4/5 Jazz & Musical Theater, selections from the Level 5/6 Variations class, and excerpts from the Level 5 – 7 rotation classes.
If you are aware of a preexisting schedule conflict, please contact the Academy Administrative Office at firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss potential eligibility to perform in Spring Production. Should a student miss more rehearsals than permitted by the above student expectations - including performance classes, weekend rehearsals, and theater week rehearsals - it will be at the discretion of the Academy Director as to whether or not the student will be allowed to perform.
