Rules for Safe Handling of a Firearm at Oak Tree Gun Club LLC / California Gun Girls, LLC Always treat the firearm as if it is loaded. YOU are the primary safety of any firearm! You will always point the firearm downrange - towards the targets. You will not endanger yourself or those around you by pointing the firearm up, down, left or right at any time. Your trigger finger will be outside the trigger guard until you are ready to fire. You will only place your finger inside the trigger guard when you are ready to fire the gun. You will not move or change positions with a firearm in your hand. If you move with a firearm to a different position, unload the firearm, place it in a container and move the container. DO NOT handle a firearm anywhere other than the firing line. Shoot only at targets. Do not shoot at plant and animal life, the ground, rocks, target stands, sticks or other objects located down range. Pistol Range Rules - All firearms brought into the Pro-Shop and on the ranges must be unloaded with the actions open.
- You will not bring any loaded or jammed firearms into the Pro-Shop. Leave the firearm pointed in the “down range” direction on the shooting table, and notify a Range Officer immediately. DO NOT attempt to clear a jammed firearm without assistance from a Range Officer.
- Eye and Ear protection must be worn BEFORE entering the range, and worn at all times on the range. This includes all non-shooting spectators.
- All expended ammunition casings and lead are the property of California Gun Girls, LLC / Oak Tree Gun Club, LLC.
- Range Officers may remove any person from the range at any time, for any reason.
- Anyone suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol will not be allowed on any ranges.
- Anyone under the age of 21 must be accompanied by an adult (both on and off the ranges) at all times.
- No one under the age of 21 is allowed to purchase ammunition or rent any firearms.
- Anyone with a medical condition that could result in a safety hazard (seizure disorder, etc.) should notify a Range Officer upon entering the range.
- Pregnant women should utilize the shooting ranges at their own risk. It is not recommended due to loud noise and possible exposure to lead.
- All ammunition and firearms are subject to inspection by any Range Officer.
- We reserve the right to NOT allow hand loads.
- Turn in defective, misfire, or unused ammunition to a Range Officer for proper disposal.
- Do not disassemble or clean firearms on the firing line.
- No ammunition is allowed on the cleaning bench.
- Notify range personnel if you observe any violations of range rules. Report any safety violations immediately.
- If you do not have any experience handling firearms please notify range personnel when signing up, BEFORE going on the shooting line. A Range Officer will assist you with the safe handling and operation of your firearm.
HOLSTERED FIREARMS MAY ONLY BE CARRIED BY LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL DISPLAYING A BADGE IN PLAIN VIEW. HOLSTERS MAY NOT BE DRAWN FROM AT ANY TIME. WHEN A “CEASE FIRE” COMMAND IS GIVEN - ALL FIREARMS MUST BE UNLOADED, HAVE THEIR ACTIONS LOCKED OPEN, AND BE SET ON THE TABLES ORIENTED DOWNRANGE. ALL SHOOTERS WILL STEP BACK TWO YARDS FROM THE FIRING LINE, AND NO GUNS WILL BE HANDLED UNTIL A “HOT RANGE” COMMAND IS GIVEN. Steel Range Specific Rules 1) Cartridge types not allowed on the Steel Range may not be brought onto the Steel Range.
2) Calibers allowed on the Steel Range are posted at the entry to the Pistol Range and Pro-Shop. No other calibers are allowed.
3) All ammunition must have either a Full Metal Jacket or be a Lead Bullet - No partial semi-jacketed ammunition is allowed.
4) All ammunition must have a brass or nickel-plated case. 5) No Magnum Loads. 6) No Center Fire Rifles. 7) No Black Powder.
8) No more than two (2) Shooters to a bay at any time. 9) Do not shoot at extreme angles - shoot only at the targets in front of you.
10) Do not shoot .22 caliber rifles at the speed plates at the far end of the range.
11) Do not shoot .22 caliber rifles at the first row of steel targets.
12) Speed Plates - Shoot only the plate rack directly ahead of you. Paper Range Specific Rules 13) No more than 3 shooters to a table.
14) No Black Powder.
15) Only paper targets are allowed.
16) Shoot only at your targets.
17) Safety is every person’s responsibility - If a Range Officer is not present on the bay, coordinate “Cease Fires” among all the shooters on the bay. Verify that all the rules of “Cease Fire” are being followed. If you have any issues or concerns, please notify a Range Officer or employee immediately. I have read and agree to follow all the above rules. I understand that failure to follow these rules will result in expulsion from the range.
