Prepayment Required The group leader must turn in one payment for the entire group one week in advance. **Please note that you will not have tickets but will check in under the group name** All attendees must pay the group leader, and the group leader will then pay for the entire group at one time. Anyone who wishes to pay for their admission separately must pay at the retail rate instead of the group rate. Parents paying separately from the school will not be able to go on the same tour as their student. Payment may be in the form of credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover) or company check. No personal checks please. Checks must be mailed at least 5 days in advance and are payable to Ruby Falls. Should you wish to mail advance payment you may mail it to Ruby Falls 1720 South Scenic Hwy, Chattanooga, TN 37409, Attn: Groups. Refunds There are no refunds given on-site. Cancellations must be made at least 48 hours in advance of your arrival and a 50% cancellation fee may occur if canceled inside the 48-hour window. A written refund request must be submitted, and a decision will be made within 30 days of the visit. There is no guarantee of a refund. Inclement Weather Policy Due to its location, weather is normally not a factor at Ruby Falls. In fact, rain enhances the tour by increasing the volume of water in the cave. During periods of exceptionally high rainfall in a short amount of time, there is a potential for some flooding. During these rare instances cave tours are suspended temporarily. Every effort is made as soon as possible to contact groups if this happens so that tours can be rescheduled. Late Arrivals Ruby Falls is in the Eastern Time Zone. Arrive 30 minutes prior to your check-in time to allow time for parking, check-in, and restroom breaks (as there are no restrooms in the cave). If your arrival time is 8am at Ruby Falls, please arrive at that time since the doors do not open until 8am. Call 423-821-2544 if your group is running late. Guides are scheduled based on reservations to lead your group through the cave. Please be respectful of your arrival time for your groups’ enjoyment as well as for that of others. Starting times are not guaranteed but are a close approximation of your start time depending on the overall volume of traffic that day. Clothing recommendations The temperature in the cave is around 60 degrees year-round, but with the humidity in the cave it feels more like 70 degrees. Comfortable shoes are suggested as the total walk is a little under a mile and the pathways, although paved, are uneven in some places. Heels, sandals, or backless shoes are not suggested. Educational Materials Ruby Falls offers online educational materials that follow the National Curriculum Standards along with Curriculum Standards for the states of Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, and North Carolina. These materials may be accessed at http://www.rubyfalls.com/plan-your-visit/groups/school-groups/.
Parking Parking at Ruby Falls is free! Arrive 30 minutes prior to your check-in time to allow time for parking, check-in, and restroom breaks (as there are no restrooms in the cave). We do have limited parking available for large vehicles. Upon arrival a parking lot attendant will direct you to the appropriate place to park. Time to Visit We do not guarantee starting times. Allow about 1 ½ to 2 hours for your group visit to Ruby Falls plus about 30 minutes extra time to visit the Lookout Mountain Tower and browse around Ruby Falls top rated gift shops. Accessibility The Ruby Falls entrance, atrium, plaza, cafes, Blue Heron Overlook, and gift shops are accessible. Due to the natural, narrow cave passages, two-way traffic; and steps, the cave tour is not wheelchair or walker accessible. Strollers Due to narrow passages and steps, strollers are not permitted on the cave tour. For infants and small children, we recommend either front or back carriers; however, we do not rent these on-site. Please keep in mind there are places with low ceilings in the cave. Field Trip Chaperones Ruby Falls is pleased to provide complimentary chaperone admissions to ensure the safety and enjoyment of your group along with other park guests. Please help us create memories for everyone by making sure members of your group remain with their guide always, assemble in eateries and gift shops in a supervised and respectful fashion, and refrain from running or yelling on the property. One complimentary adult admission is given per ten paid students for school field trips. One chaperone per ten students is required due to multiple elevator rides. Driving Ruby Falls, Rock City, and the Incline Railway are within approximately 3-5 miles of one another. You will need to provide your own transportation to each attraction on Lookout Mountain as they are not within walking distance. Motor coaches do travel Lookout Mountain daily; however, please ensure in advance that the motor coach company you have chartered is particularly familiar with driving mountain roads. Travel Safety Information If your group plans to charter a bus, allow extra travel time as we are in a residential, mountain area with curvy, narrow 2 lane roads that require a commitment to safe driving. For the safety of your group and other drivers, please inform your charter company of the surroundings and instruct them to drive with care.
