In consideration of the Tarentum District Sportsmen’s Club (hereinafter “TDSC”) furnishing services, equipment, and/or the facilities and in consideration of my participation in pistol, rifle, trap and clay shooting and other related activities and events, I agree as follows: 1. I fully understand and acknowledge that there are risks and dangers with my use of firearms; my participation in shooting, shooting events and/or activities; my attendance at shooting events and/or activities; and/or my presence at TDSC’s facilities that may result in damage to or loss of personal property, personal injury, death, or other ailments that could cause serious disability; these risks and dangers may be caused by the negligence of the shareholders, officers, directors, employees or agents of TDSC, the negligence of others, accidents, breaches of contract, forces of nature or other causes, and that risks and dangers may arise from foreseeable or unforeseeable causes, and; I, on behalf of myself, my family, heirs, executors, administrators, representatives and assigns, assume all risks and dangers and all responsibility for any losses and/or damages which result from my participation in the activities, events or presence in or on TDSC’s facilities. PLEASE INITIAL: 2. I, for myself, my spouse, family, heirs, executors, administrators, legal representatives, and assigns, hereby release, waive, discharge the TDSC, and its officers, shareholders, directors, employees, and agents (collectively, “Releasees) from any and all claims actions or losses for injuries, property damage, death, loss of services or other, arising out of my participation in the activities, events or presence in or on TDSC’s facilities, whether due to the fault or negligence of Releasees, circumstances beyond Releasees’ control, or other. PLEASE INITIAL: 3. This Release and Waiver contains the entire agreement between TDSC and me. The terms of this Release and Waiver are intended to be contractual in nature and not a mere recital. PLEASE INITIAL: 4. I HAVE CAREFULLY READ THE ABOVE WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND, BY SIGNING IT, AGREE TO RELEASE TDSC FROM ANY AND ALL LIABILITY, LOSS, DAMAGE, COSTS, CLAIMS AND/OR CAUSES OF ACTION, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ALL BODILY AND PERSONAL INJURIES AND DEATH AND PROPERTY DAMAGE ARISING OUT OF MY PARTICIPATION IN ANY TDSC ACTIVITY. I CERTIFY THAT, AS A GUEST OF A CLUB MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING, I HAVE REVIEWED THE CONDITIONS SET FORTH IN THE GUEST WAIVER DOCUMENT AND CLUB RULES FOR SAFETY, ETIQUETTE AND MAINTENANCE AND WILL ABIDE BY SAME. PLEASE INITIAL: INTENDING TO BE LEGALLY BOUND: Safety is paramount at the Tarentum District Sportsmen’s Club. Please review these rules all shooters must follow on the club grounds. Any shooter posing a danger to others will be subject to removal from the club grounds and membership can be revoked if a shooter continues to show poor safety procedures. The 12 Golden rules for Safe Gun Handling - Always treat the gun as loaded.
- Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.
- Always keep your finger straight, and off the trigger until you are ready to shoot.
- Always keep the gun unloaded until you are ready to use it.
- Never point the gun at anything you don’t intend to destroy.
- Be sure of your target and what is beyond it.
- Learn the mechanical and handling characteristics of the gun you are using.
- Always use proper Ammunition.
- Be sure the barrel is clear of obstructions before loading and shooting.
- If your gun fails to fire when the trigger is pulled, hold your shooting position for several seconds; then with the muzzle pointed in a safe direction, carefully unload the gun.
- Don't rely on the gun's safety to keep it from firing
- Be aware of your surroundings when handling guns so you don’t trip or lose your balance and accidentally point and/or fire the gun at anyone or anything.
