Unfortunately, it's rare for us to rebook with other clients from our waitlist, as they usually secure alternative care upon learning that we are not available. Injury to Team Member or another person by Client’s Animal(s): The Client accepts full responsibility for any medical expenses and damages caused by their pet(s) to the pet sitter or any other individual. In the event of injury or damage caused by the Client's pet(s), the Client agrees to cover all related costs and damages incurred by CPC team members or their possessions. Furthermore, the Client agrees to indemnify, hold harmless, and defend CPC against any claims arising from injuries caused by the Client's pet(s).
Injury to Client animal(s) by another animal: CPC and its employees shall not be held liable for any animal(s) involved in altercations with other animals or injured by another animal while under CPC care. CPC will take necessary precautions to prevent Client’s animal(s) from being exposed to aggressive or violent animals. In the event of any altercation or hazardous situation, CPC will promptly remove Client’s animal(s) and take appropriate measures to ensure their safety during the provision of CPC services.
Injury or escape of animals: The Client and CPC team member acknowledge that CPC's pet sitters will provide the utmost care to all pets under their supervision. The Client understands that pets, being instinctual, may not always be fully controllable by the CPC team member, despite diligent care. The Client agrees that CPC shall not be held responsible or liable for any incidents resulting in injury, death, disappearance, or legal consequences involving any pets. However, this waiver of liability does not apply if CPC's conduct in providing pet care services is determined to be grossly negligent, reckless, or intentionally misconducted.
Pet Proofing: The pet owner bears sole responsibility for "pet proofing" any areas of the home or property accessible to the pet(s) prior to a CPC team member entering a client's home. This includes thorough inspection of fences, gates, latches, doors, and other containment devices. All toxic and hazardous substances that could endanger the pet's health, such as medications, chocolate, candy, alcohol, marijuana, coffee, and food must be securely stored away. The pet sitter assumes no responsibility or liability for any injuries sustained by the pet(s) or property damage caused while in their own home/property. However, this waiver of liability in favor of CPC does not apply if CPC's conduct in providing pet care services is determined to be grossly negligent, reckless, or intentionally misconducted. Unsafe Pet(s): This contract grants CPC the discretion to terminate services immediately if the Client's pet(s) jeopardize their own safety, the safety of other pets, individuals, or CPC employees. No refunds will be issued in such cases.
Changes to terms and conditions: Colorado Pet Companion reserves the right to modify our terms and conditions at any time, for any reason, without prior notice. Your continued use of our services following these changes constitutes acceptance of the amended terms and conditions.
Home Care: CPC team members will diligently follow written instructions to the best of their ability. However, we cannot guarantee favorable results. CPC shall not be held liable for any damage to the Client's property or home unless such damage is directly caused by CPC's negligent actions. This includes, but is not limited to, electrical issues, leaks, and acts of nature. All repair costs and associated fees shall be borne by the Client or fully reimbursed to CPC within seven (7) days of the Client's return date. CPC assumes no responsibility for loss or damage in the event of burglary or other criminal activity during the contract period. The Client agrees to secure their home before leaving the premises. Colorado Pet Companion will endeavor to re-secure the home per Client instructions at the conclusion of each visit. CPC is not liable for wilted, dead, or unhealthy plants. Clients are advised to place all indoor plants on a waterproof surface in plain view, as CPC staff members are not responsible for water damage or missed plants. Pet Emergencies n the event of a pet medical emergency, immediate contact will be made with the client. If direct contact with the client is unattainable, it is imperative that alternative arrangements for decision-making and payment are established in advance. One such option is to authorize your veterinarian to charge any necessary expenses to your credit card. It's worth noting that most veterinary offices require a card on file before administering care. Therefore, clients are encouraged to liaise with their veterinarian prior to their absence to arrange such provisions.
Pet Illness/Veterinary Care/Restocking supplies: Client is aware and agrees to the medical costs of any fees should they arise from animal(s) being ill or otherwise needing veterinary care. Client agrees to pay Colorado Pet Companion the sum of $30.00/per hour should the pet need to be taken to the vet for any reasons outside of gross negligence by a CPC team member. Client will be notified immediately in the case of an animal emergency or sickness. In the event that the Client cannot be contacted, the Client’s veterinarian shall be notified. If the team member needs to restock supplies that the Client agrees to provide but that are not provided at the time of the scheduled care (such as pet food or medication), Client agrees to pay Colorado Pet Companion a $30.00/restocking fee.
General Policies, Terms of Service and Procedures Client Service Agreement This agreement is a signed document for pet care services made between the Client and Colorado Pet Companion. All clients must review our policies, terms of service, and procedures. Clients must sign and date the Client Service Agreement prior to care. By signing this document, clients are adhering to all of our policies. Client Intake Form We will provide each Client with a Client Intake Form. This intake form covers all pet and home care. Fill out this form prior to the initial meet and greet. This document will be reviewed at the initial meet and greet with the assigned pet sitter. This document will be stored in our records to be referred to for all future services.
Meet and Greets A meet and greet is conducted for all new clients prior to the start of service. This consultation allows us to become familiar with you and your pets, as well as to set up your customized pet care services. This meeting enables us to:
- Meet you and your pets
- Review the Client Intake Form and Service Agreement
- Discuss detailed information with regard to caring for your pet/s and your home
- Discuss payment arrangements – Payment in full is due on the first day of care. Client will receive a final invoice.
- Arrange your requested schedule and services needed
- Determine if our services are a good fit
- Exchange of house key - required
- Answer client question
House Key – Way of Entry A key to the client’s home will be exchanged during the initial consultation. A key is requested in addition to keyless entry methods in case the power goes out or the batteries should fail (this happens all the time!). It is suggested that the client allow us to retain the key safely in our possession in a secured lock box for future pet sitting needs. If it is requested that the key be returned to client, it will be left inside the locked secured home when we leave the premises (after scheduled care is complete) or it will be sent certified mail. Since we do not have a storefront, for the privacy & security of our own homes, we do not allow pet owners to come to us to pick up or drop off keys. There will be a $35.00 service charge for each time we have to make a trip to client’s home to pick up the key. There will be a $10.00 service charge for the cost of returning keys via certified mail. How Soon in Advance Should You Make A Daily Visit or In Client Home Pet Sitting Request? To ensure availability, it is suggested that you request services as soon as you are aware that you need care. Holidays are always guaranteed to become fully booked. Scheduling Requests, Cancellations, Scheduled Care Changes All scheduling must be completed via text to the CPC office numer: 720-381-0210.. Please send all requests, cancellations and inquiries directly to this phone number via text. You can expect a response within 24 hours. Last Minute Scheduling Requests Last minute emergencies and business trips do happen and we will do our very best to accommodate any last minute requests. However, we cannot guarantee services without sufficient notice. See Same Day Service Fee above.
Time Block Scheduling Due to our scheduling structure, we can only offer flexible time frames for each visit. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee exact times for each visit. Inclement Weather Policy We strive to create a safe and healthy environment for your pets and our staff. In the event of extreme temperatures and/or hazardous weather conditions, Colorado Pet Companion will provide a potty break and spend the remainder of the visit playing with your pet indoors. If your pet has heat or cold sensitivities beyond breed standards please inform us immediately. Clients will be contacted prior to scheduled care in the event of unsafe driving conditions. Walks may be shortened and/or canceled at CPC’s discretion due to: temperatures below 20 degrees or are higher than 85 degrees, heavy rains, lightning, high winds, fires, or heavy snowfall. CPC reserves the right to cancel or change services or service times due to extreme weather conditions. Snow Removal Colorado Pet Companion does not provide snow removal services of any kind. In the event you are away and a significant snowfall occurs, we ask that you please make arrangements to have your entrance, driveway, and sidewalk cleared of any snow. Poop Pick Up & Lawn Care You can count on the assigned pet sitter to clean up after your pet throughout his or her stay. It is expected upon arrival that the yard is to be free of any pet waste.
Aggressive Behavior If a pet has a history of biting, aggressive tendencies towards unfamiliar faces, or any other aggressive behaviors towards humans or other animals, Colorado Pet Companion reserves the right to refuse service. Bites must be reported to the local authorities as required by law. The owner will be liable for the medical care expenses and damages that result from any aggressive behavior. History of Escaping Prior to care, if a pet has a history of escaping out the front door, out of the yard, from any fenced in areas, or while being walked on leash, Colorado Pet Companion reserves the right to refuse service.
Outdoor Pet Policy We do not provide services to dogs who permanently live or are housed outdoors. Any dogs with outdoor access via a doggie door must have tags or be microchipped.
On Leash Policy All dogs will be required to be on leash during outdoor walks. We do not provide off leash adventures and we avoid off leash trails and private off leash parks. At Colorado Pet Companion, we have a strict on leash policy. Regardless if your pup is dog friendly or not, we will not permit your pup to interact with any other dogs. Team members always steer clear of other animals while on walks by stepping off the sidewalk or path or turning around in the other direction. If dogs that are off leash approach, we will do our best to keep interaction at a minimum and move away from them calmly and quickly. We will not allow your pet to interact with any other humans while in our care. We will make every effort to keep your pet safe and the best way to do so is to keep a safe distance. We cannot predict others behaviors or your pets reactions to their behaviors. We find this is the best solution is to avoid any possible conflicts.
Leashes, Harnesses & Collars Please provide the Colorado Pet Companion team member with appropriate leashes, harnesses and collars to walk your dog. Short nylon kennel leads will not be accepted as a way to walk any dog.
Dog Park & Transportation Policy Colorado Pet Companion does not provide visits to dog parks or transportation services for pets. Keeping your pet safe is our number one concern. Since there are so many factors in a dog park that are out of our control, we do not take any pets under our care to dog parks. In the event of an emergency, we will waive this policy and make sure pets arrive safely to whichever destination is necessary. Cat Care Policy We do not allow cats to go outside of the client's home while under our care. This is to ensure the safety and health of your cat. Puppy Care Policy As puppies require a higher level of care and specialized attention than adult dogs, we have a few policies in place with regard to our approach to puppy care. We are here to help! - For puppies under 6 months old, we are happy to provide Daily Visits throughout each day. These visits can include playtime, potty breaks, snuggles, training reinforcement, and feedings. Due to scheduling conflicts, we do not provide In Client Home Pet Sitting for puppies under 1 year
Currently, we don’t offer pet sitting services for pups under 1 year old, as our schedule sometimes requires pets to be comfortable being left alone for up to four hours while we attend to personal errands or other clients. However, if a puppy can handle being alone for this period, we’d be happy to make an exception and provide pet sitting for them. Puppies are a joy! However, they do require nearly constant attention, which can be stressful for us as the pet sitter, as they need close supervision and frequent potty trips. Nighttime interruptions can also be mentally exhausting for the pet sitter. Potty training is especially demanding, as puppies need frequent, scheduled breaks to avoid accidents. Since we don’t provide specific potty training services, it can be challenging to meet a young puppy’s needs in this critical learning phase. To ensure puppies’ safety and comfort, we ask that puppies be crate trained or able to stay in a secure, gated area without access to any harmful items when left alone. Additionally, we require all pets to be spayed or neutered before taking them on walks to ensure everyone’s safety, including other pets and people we might meet. Puppies and dogs in heat can also be challenging to manage, often requiring extra cleaning and care, so we are not comfortable caring for animals in heat. As pet care experts, we’ve observed that many dogs follow the “3-3-3 rule” when acclimating to a new environment: three days of feeling overwhelmed and nervous, three weeks to start settling into a routine, and three months to fully build trust and bond with their owner. While we have extensive pet care experience and are dedicated to our animals’ well-being, we are not trained dog behaviorists or trainers. We’re happy to reinforce any commands the client is working on with their pet, but we do not offer training services. We also don’t offer 24/7 care where we remain in the client’s home without ever leaving. Daily Visit Policy For the health and well being of dogs in our care, Colorado Pet Companion will not accept any requests under a minimum of two 30 minute visits within a 24 hour frame. This is specifically applied when the client plans to be away for more than 12 hours and is leaving the dog alone for consecutive days
Household Emergencies In the event of a household emergency, we will always contact the client immediately. Please leave the name and number of a trusted maintenance company or a person you can rely on to attend to any household emergencies that may arise during your absence. This includes but is not limited to; leaking pipes, malfunctioning water heaters and HVAC units. Please discuss any on going household oddities at the initial meet and greet. Pet Evacuation Plan There have been natural disasters here in Boulder County. The Colorado Pet Companion team is prepared and has disaster plans in place. If disaster strikes, you can rely on our expertise to help ensure the safety of your pets. Having a plan in place before a disaster occurs will save valuable time. In the event of a natural disaster, we will do our very best to evacuate pets as needed and bring them to safety. You can expect consistent communication from us. For kitties, please note where the cat carrier is located. Depending on the type of disaster and driving conditions, we may not be able to access clients’ pets. We ask clients to please identify a backup pet caretaker, such as a neighbor or family member. If disaster strikes and unforeseen circumstances prevent us from visiting the home to rescue the pets, the backup pet caretaker must be someone who has a way of entry to the home. Thermostat Please leave your thermostat settings within a normal comfortable range (65-75F). If the house temperature is outside of this range, Colorado Pet Companion will adjust the thermostat. This is to ensure the health and comfort of your pets and Colorado Pet Companion staff during our time of service.
Visitors, Roommates, Job Sharing and Maintenance/Construction Worker Policy Due to several safety and liability issues, Colorado Pet Companion reserves the right to turn down care at any time if other individuals, including roommates, friends or family members, are residing in OR entering the home during scheduled care. This also includes cleaning companies and interior and exterior maintenance or construction workers. This topic must be disclosed when the client initially requests care and a discussion with a Colorado Pet Companion representative must take place prior to care being confirmed. There are too many variables for home and pet care to become compromised when individuals, other than a Colorado Pet Companion team member, are coming and going from a client's home during care. This policy is put in place for the safety and well being of our pet sitters and your pets. We kindly request that construction be halted during our stay. Colorado Pet Companion does not accept liability or take responsibility for others who may be on the client's property or inside their home prior to, during, or immediately after our services have been rendered. No Guest Policy Colorado Pet Companion team members strictly adhere to our No Guest policy. Other than CPC management and qualified team members, no other guests, friends, or family of the assigned team member will ever enter your home. Privacy Policy All of your information will be kept private and confidential. Colorado Pet Companion highly respects our clients entrusting us with the care of their home and their pets. We do recommend that you inform a trusted neighbor, friend, your alarm company or local police department that, while you are away, Colorado Pet Companion will be caring for your pets and your home.
