Range Waiver

Maximum of three people per shooting lane. This entire facility is monitored by camera an digitally recorded.

Range Rules

  • All Patrons will watch the safety training video and sign a liability waiver PRIOR to entering the Field
  • Safety Glasses will be worn at all times
  • Absolutely NO food, drink, or tobacco on the range
  • If you are pregnant or nursing, do not enter the range
  • NO use of Alcohol or drugs before or during shooting
  • No firearm or ammunition will be allowed on the range that exceed the specification of the range trap
  • Use only the CORRECT ammunition for firearm
  • High Caliber reserves the right to inspect all firearms and ammunition and ban any that in our opinion are unsafe
  • Keep your firearm pointed down range at all times and treat every firearm as if it is loaded.
  • Keep your finger off the trigger until on target and prepared to fire.
  • Only one firearm may be in use at each booth at a time
  • All firearms will remain in their case or holster until the patron is on the field.
  • All firearms will be grounded with the chamber open and up or cylinder open, and muzzles pointed down range
  • Any person over 21and is an Illinois resident must have a valid FOID to shoot on the range unless they are sponsored by and under the direct supervision of a person 21 years old with a valid FOID CARD. 
  • Patrons under the age of 18 firing rifles must be accompanied by and be under the direct supervision of an adult with a valid FOID at all times
  • Firing from holster permitted only if you have completed the Holster Class and have the qualifying badge. 
  • Rapid firing and double taps are only permitted if you are able to manage the recoil and keep on target
  • When finished firing, the patron will unload and ensure the firearm is clear before casing the firearm and moving from behind the firing line.
  • In the event of any malfunction on the range it is the patron’s responsibility to clear the malfunction. If assistance is needed, the patron will ground the firearm with the muzzle pointed down range and immediately contact the RSO on duty.
  • Any patron or employee may call a cease fire at any time. All patrons will immediately cease firing, take finger off the trigger, and wait for instructions from RSO on duty.
  • No Patron will resume firing after a cease fire is called until an RSO has given the command that the range is safe, clear, and ready.
  • Patrons under the age of 21 who are firing handguns must be accompanied by and be under the constant and direct supervision of a patron 21 or older who has a valid FOID
  • Absolutely NO PAID instruction on the range by anyone other than High Caliber Instructors. This includes CCW qualifying time, paid or not.
  • Rentals firearms are provide at the discretion of the RSO on duty.
  • Additional rules are subject to public notice
  • No open-toed shoes are allowed on the range for safety reasons. 
  • Hearing Protection must be worn at all times.

Prohibited Firearms & Ammunition: BB Guns, Black Powder firearms, Steel Core/Case Ammo, Bird or Buckshot, Long Guns without Front and Rear Sight or an Optical Sight.

I have read and understood the above conditions and realize that failure to observe the above rules will result in my immediate removal from this facility. I affirm that there are no laws that prohibit me from shooting on the range. I also realize that firearms and ammunition are dangerous if not handled properly and accept full responsibility for their safe handling and use. Further I, and anyone on my behalf, agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless High

Caliber, its heirs, assigns, officers, and employees, for any property loss, property damage, personal injury or death that may occur while on the range or while on the premises. And, I personally agree to be financially responsible for any damage that may occur as a result of my irresponsible shooting on the range.

No Uncased Firearms Outside of the Shooting Booth

I understand that my firearm(s) will stay in the booth with the muzzle(s) pointed down range at all times.

No Loaded Firearms on Bench

I understand that no loaded firearm(s) will be on the bench. actions or cylinders open, and muzzle pointed down range at all times.


Patron safety

I understand that my thumb will not be crossed behind the slide, that I will not place any part of my body in front of the muzzle, and that the firearm will never be pointed at myself or another patron.

I understand that if I do not follow all of High Caliber’s rules, including the ones highlighted above, I may be removed from the range for safety concerns.

Anyone who uses a firearm has a responsibility to themselves and others to use the firearm safely. Waiver of Liability Release, Hold Harmless, and Indemnification Agreement

I wish to engage in firearms training and use of The Range at High Caliber Training Center Inc., 1414 Triumph Drive, Urbana, IL.

I understand that engaging in these activities may be hazardous, with accompanying risks of personal injury, death, and/or loss or damage to my property. In consideration of my participation in such shooting activities, I, on my own behalf and that of my heirs successors, representatives, administrators and assigns, hereby:

1. Waive and completely release any and all, past, present or future claims, causes of action, suits, rights, damages, costs, expenses or obligations or demands of any kind whatsoever, I, or anyone on my behalf might have against High Caliber Training Center, Inc., its officers, directors, servants, employees, agents, representatives and contractors (together "HCTC"), for any loss, damage, personal injury, death and/or loss or damage to my property resulting from my participation in such shooting activities;

2. Agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless HCTC, from any and all claims by any person, firm, corporation or others, for any damages, loss or claims, of any nature, arising in any way out of my participation in such shooting activities; and

3. Assume all risks associated with such activities and all responsibility for medical expenses, costs and/or other obligations and other losses or injuries to me or in which I may become involved, by reason of my participation in such shooting activities at the aforementioned facility or event.

I further certify that I am over eighteen [18] years of age and have read and understand this Waiver of Liability and have executed this instrument voluntarily on this date.

MY COMMITMENT TO SAFE GUN HANDLING

Anyone who uses a firearm has a responsibility to themselves and others to use the firearm safely. I acknowledge that I am familiar with the basic rules of firearm safety and that those basic rules have been explained to me. I agree to follow all of the basic rules of firearm safety at all times during my use and handling of any firearms.

The safe use of firearms dictates that I understand and agree to follow all of these instructions:

Keep the firearm pointed in a safe direction and never at anything you are not will to destroy.

  • Keep your finger off the trigger until the sights are aligned on target and you are ready to shoot, and do not press on the trigger unless you intend to fire.
  • Treat all guns as though they are always loaded.
  • Know your target and what is beyond.
  • Keep the firearm unloaded until ready to use.
  • Follow the commands of the range safety officer.
