Sundog Fun Run 5K & Walk Participant Waiver, Release of Liability, and Assumption of Risk

Please read this waiver carefully before signing. By participating in the Sundog Fun Run 5K on June 20, 2026, you agree to the terms set forth below. If you are under 18 years of age, a parent or legal guardian must sign this waiver on your behalf.

Assumption of Risk and Release of Liability

I understand and acknowledge that participation in the Sundog Fun Run 5K involves physical activity and inherent risks, including but not limited to: falls, overexertion, contact with other participants, uneven terrain, adverse weather conditions, and vehicle traffic on or near the course route. I voluntarily assume all such risks, whether inherent or otherwise.

In consideration of being permitted to participate in this event, I, for myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns, hereby waive, release, and forever discharge Midcoast Outdoor Leadership Initiative DBA Sundog Outdoor Leadership Initiative, Maine Sport Outfitters, their respective officers, directors, employees, volunteers, agents, and representatives from any and all claims, demands, actions, or causes of action arising from or related to my participation in the Sundog Fun Run 5K, including claims arising from the negligence of the Released Parties, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

I attest that I am physically fit and capable of participating in this event. I have not been advised by a medical professional to refrain from physical activity of this nature. I agree to comply with all event rules and instructions provided by organizers and volunteers.

Event Results Acknowledgment

I understand and acknowledge that the Sundog Fun Run 5K is an untimed, unofficial event. Finishing order and prize awards are determined at the sole discretion of event organizers. I agree not to dispute the results or decisions made by event organizers regarding prize awards.

Photo and Media Release

I grant Sundog Outdoor Leadership Initiative and Maine Sport Outfitters permission to photograph or film me during the event and to use such images or video for promotional, educational, and marketing purposes without compensation. If I do not consent to being photographed, I will notify event organizers at check-in.

Governing Law

This waiver shall be governed by the laws of the State of Maine. If any portion of this waiver is deemed unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

Attestation: I have read this waiver carefully, understand its terms, and sign it voluntarily. I understand that I am giving up substantial legal rights by signing this document. If participant is under 18 years of age, a parent or legal guardian must sign on behalf of the minor participant.
