2025 Ambassador Program


WiDS Worldwide Trademark License Agreement

This WiDS Worldwide Trademark License Agreement (“Agreement”) is between Community Initiatives (“CI”) (on behalf of WiDS Worldwide)1 and the Ambassador who is indicated in the signature block below (“you”). This Agreement uses end notes to define some of the legal terms. Please review the end notes (numbered notes found at the end of this Agreement) to fully understand the terms of this Agreement.

Provided that you are in compliance with the terms of this Agreement, CI grants you a limited license to use the WiDS Marks2 in connection with the data science events that have been approved by WiDS Worldwide (“License”). The License is non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable.

Please review the Ambassador Program Scope and Guidelines prior to signing and submitting this Agreement.3 This Agreement (including the License) begins only if WiDS Worldwide sends you written notice of its acceptance of your Ambassador application.

By signing this Agreement, you agree to the following:

  • Your event must comply with the rules in the latest version of the Ambassador Program Scope and Guidelines document. These rules are typically updated on an annual basis. You may not receive notice that the rules have been revised. Each time you organize, promote, and host an event, you are required to review and comply with the latest rules.

  • Your use of the WiDS mark and logo must comply with the latest version of the Brand Guide.4 Similar to the Ambassador Program Scope and Guidelines document, each time you organize, promote, and host an event, you are required to review and comply with the latest Brand Guide.

  • Although we provide online Ambassador resources, CI (including WiDS Worldwide) is not responsible for providing any resources for your event. You are solely responsible for all resources, equipment, staff, lodging, food, or other materials necessary for your event.

  • You agree that your activity is independently organized, promoted, and hosted. You are not an agent or employee of CI (including WiDS Worldwide). You are not creating a partnership or joint venture with CI (including WiDS Worldwide).

  • You are solely responsible for all legal claims and damages arising from or related to the event. You assume full responsibility for all injury or damage sustained by you or others in connection with your event. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CI (including WiDS Worldwide).5

  • The Agreement is subject to a limitation of damages.6

  • You agree to follow all applicable laws, rules, and regulations, including privacy laws, that apply to your collection, use, storage, and processing of personal information arising from or related to your event. This obligation includes obtaining all governmental approvals, permits, and licenses necessary for organizing, promoting and hosting your event.

  • CI (on behalf of WiDS Worldwide) retains all ownership rights in the WiDS Marks. You agree that all of uses of the WiDS Marks are for the exclusive benefit of CI and do notcreate in you any right, title, or interest in any of the WiDS Marks.

  • This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of California excluding all conflict of laws principles. Any action or proceeding arising out of this Agreement shall be brought in either the state or federal courts for Alameda County, California.

  • This Agreement continues in effect until either you or CI terminates the Agreement by sending written notice (e.g., email) to the other party. Either you or CI can terminate this Agreement without cause and without prior notice. Neither you nor CI is liable to the other party for terminating this Agreement. Both you and CI waive any claim for damages or other remedies arising from or related to the termination of this Agreement.


I hereby confirm that I have reviewed and read this Agreement including the footnotes. I understand and agree the content in the footnotes is also part of this Agreement.

1 CI is a California nonprofit public benefit corporation that is recognized as tax exempt under federal and state law. CI is a fiscal sponsor of projects that engage in charitable or educational activities. CI is the fiscal sponsor of “WiDS Worldwide,” a project with a mission to elevate women in the field of data science by providing inspiration, education, community, and support.

2 “WiDS Marks” means the WOMEN IN DATA SCIENCE word mark, the logo design mark, and such other designations of WiDS Worldwide for use by Ambassadors in connection with promoting and hosting regional events. Except as expressly granted by this Agreement, CI reserves all right, title, and interest in the WiDS Marks.

5 You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless CI (including WiDS Worldwide), together with its officers, directors, agents and employees, from and against any claims, demands, damages, and costs (including attorney fees and costs) arising from or related to the actual or alleged (i) infringement of the intellectual or other proprietary rights of a third party as a result of the unauthorized use of the trademarks by, or on behalf of the licensee, (ii) infringement of the intellectual or other proprietary rights of a third party as a result of conducting or promoting your regional event (iii) violation of a law, statute, or regulation arising from conducting or promoting your regional event, or (iv) material breach of any terms of this Agreement.

6 Except for your indemnification obligation under this Agreement, in no event will either party be liable to the other for any indirect, special, incidental, exemplary, punitive or consequential damages (including loss of business or profits) arising out of or in connection with this Agreement, whether such liability arises from any claim based on contract, warranty, tort (including negligence) strict liability or otherwise, and whether or not the party has been advised of the possibility of such loss or damage. The foregoing limitations will survive and apply even if any limited remedy specified in this Agreement is found to have failed its essential purpose.
