TEAM CANADA FAN FEST PARTICIPATION AGREEMENT RISK ACKNOWLEDGEMENT, RELEASE AND WAIVER

Event: Winter Sports Participation and demonstrations presented as part of Team Canada FanFest Events being held across Canada during the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games


Event Date(s) and Location:

Toronto-Feb 7th-8th 2026: Nathan Philips Square (Skate Canada, Hockey Canada, Speed Skate Canada)

Calgary-Feb 14th-15th: Winsport Event Centre (Skate Canada, Hockey Canada, Speed Skate Canada, Curling Canada, Luge Canada, Bobsleigh Canada, Ski Jump Canada, Biathlon Canada)

Vancouver-Feb 15th-16th: Jack Poole Plaza

Montreal-Feb 21st-22nd: Esplanade Tranquille (Skate Canada, Hockey Canada, Speed Skate Canada)

 

IN THIS PARTICIPATION AGREEMENT, ANY USE OF THE TERM “YOU” OR “YOUR” SHALL APPLY TO (I) YOU AS THE PARTICIPANT IN THE EVENT AND/OR (II) YOUR CHILD WHO IS A PARTICIPANT IN THE EVENT, AS IS NECESSARY TO EFFECT THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT. 

 

ORGANIZATION(S): the Canadian Olympic Committee, the Canadian Olympic Foundation, and (as applicable for each Event) the following organizations: the Calgary Olympic Development Association (operating as WinSport), Hockey Canada, Speed Skating Canada, Skate Canada, Curling Canada, Ski Jumping Canada, Biathlon Canada, Snowboard Canada, Luge Canada, Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton, and any other national sport organization or multi-sport organization participating in or supporting the Event, together with each of their subsidiaries, affiliates, partners, member associations, clubs, provincial/territorial sections, directors, officers, employees, volunteers, contractors, agents, sponsors, licensees, successors, and assigns. 

 

You acknowledge that participating in the Event described above involves inherent and potentially unavoidable risks. You consent to Your participation in the Event and assume all risks of injury, illness, death, or property damage related to Your participation. You authorize the Organizations to seek and obtain emergency medical care for You if necessary, and You agree to be responsible for all associated costs.

 

In consideration of Your participation in the Event, You agree to the terms set forth below:

 

RISK ACKNOWLEDGMENT: During the Event, sport, games, exercises and other physical activities may be practiced by You. You acknowledge that You had the opportunity to review, assess and understand the nature of the Event, and as a result understand that that the activities associated with the Event involve many dangers, hazards, and risks, including, but not limited to, falls, collisions, or contact with people or equipment, negligence or other misconduct by other participants,  including negligence on the part of any applicable Organization and its Representatives (defined below), any of which could cause harm, illness, property damage, serious personal injury or death.

 

You agree to participate in any information sessions and/or training(s) offered by the applicable Organization(s) to the best of your abilities, to seek clarification where necessary, and to implement and comply with the instructions and security measures given by the applicable Organization’s Representatives (as defined below). You expressly acknowledge that You are attending and participating in the Event at Your own risk, including without limitation the risk of injury, loss, damage, or casualty to You and/or others involved in the Event, and/or Your/others’ property. You are not entitled to any remuneration, compensation, benefit, or any other privilege as a result of participating in the Event.

 

IMAGE WAIVER: You agree and consent to the following: the Event may be photographed, recorded, and otherwise captured by any of the Organizations (as applicable to the Event), for certain marketing communications and/or promotional tactics. By agreeing to the terms contained in this Participation Agreement, You hereby grant to each applicable Organization the rights herein, and waive all rights with respect to the use of Your name, likeness, appearance, voice, statements, and other information (whether in traditional, digital or other form) collected or captured by such applicable Organization in connection with the Event, for the purpose of such applicable Organization’s marketing, advertising, promoting and publicizing the Event, in any and all forms and on any platform, including without limitation, social media platforms, websites and digital channels, internet advertising, television broadcasts, press releases, print and electronic advertising and communications, and other promotional tactics as may be determined by such Organization, without requiring further consent or remuneration to You.


CONSENT TO THE COLLECTION AND USE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION: You consent to the following terms: to facilitate Your registration and participation in the Event, the applicable Organizations and their Representatives will collect specific personal information from You. This information may include, but is not limited to: full name, date of birth, email, address, etc. Your information will be used to manage registration, participation, promote future participation in activities of such Organizations and to maintain statistics on the Event. All data will be handled in accordance with the applicable Organization’s privacy policy. COC’s privacy policy can be found at https://olympic.ca/privacy-policy/.

 

SAFE PARTICIPATION: You agree, in connection with the Event and activities related to the Event: (i) not to make any statement that disparages or reflects unfavorably on any other participants, the Organizations, or the Event; (ii) You accept responsibility to ensure that You will be familiar with the environment and the health and safety requirements applicable to the Event;and (iii) that Your physical health allows You to participate in the Event.

 

RELEASE: In consideration for allowing You to participate in the Event, You expressly and knowingly: (a) waive, release, discharge and forever hold harmless each applicable Organization and their respective personnel, employees, directors, contractors, agents, or subcontractors (collectively, the “Representatives”) from any and all liability for damages or loss arising as a result of the risks of participation in or in connection with the Event, including without limitation, any and all liability for any loss (pecuniary or otherwise), damage, expense, injury or death, or the use of Your image as contemplated herein; and (b) waive any right to sue any applicable Organization and/or their respective Representatives in respect of all causes of action, claims, demands, damages or losses of any kind that may arise as a result of the risks of participation in or in connection with the Event, including without limitation, any demand, or claim (including any claim made against You by any third party), due to any cause whatsoever, including (without restriction) the negligence of such applicable Organization, breach of contract, breach of any statutory duty or obligation, or the use of Your image as contemplated herein, including without limitation, the right to make a third party claim or claim over against the applicable Organization and/or their respective Representatives arising from the same.

FOR PARENTS/GUARDIANS OF MINOR PARTICIPANTS ONLY

You, the parent or legal guardian of the minor named below who is participating in the Event (the “Child”), represent that You are the parent or legal guardian of the Child and that You have full authority to execute this document on their behalf. To the extent reasonably possible, You represent that You have explained the nature of the Event and the associated risks to your Child, and your Child understands and wishes to participate. You acknowledge that, in many jurisdictions, a waiver signed by a parent or guardian may not bar certain claims by or on behalf of a Child, and You agree nonetheless to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the applicable Organizations from any and all claims, demands, causes of action, liabilities, and expenses brought by You on behalf of Your Child, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
