Sagehill Stables Lesson Student Contract Sagehill Stables, 4180 Waverley St.; Wpg, MB; R3V 1W8; here in after called STABLE. In consideration of their mutual promises the above have agreed as follows: STUDENT and/or PARENT/GUARDIAN will not hold STABLE (Sagehill Stables), Management, Owners, Contracted Instructors or Employees responsible for any injuries or damages to the STUDENT or property of the STUDENT, regardless of negligence on behalf of the Horse, Instructor, or Sagehill Stables. STUDENT WILL BE RIDING AT THEIR OWN RISK! STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES I Agree STUDENT and/or Parent/Guardian are responsible for any damages to the STABLE PROPERTYI Agree STUDENT and/or Parent/Guardian are responsible for any property/equipment brought onto or left at STABLE PROPERTYALL SAFETY RULES AND STABLE RULES are strictly enforced and must be obeyed, in particular: - Clean-up after your assigned horse BEFORE leaving the property, including sweeping, cleaning up manure, washing bit, putting saddle pads, girths, saddles and bridles back in the appropriate location (not on the floor or on another rack), cleaning manure, bedding, hay from stalls that your horse was in, putting away feed buckets, and picking manure and cleaning up equipment in arena
- Ensure a parent/guardian is present for tacking-up/un-tacking if student is part of the Equestrian Development Program, unless coach is present to assist/supervise the student. Sagehill Stables does not guarantee tack-up supervision for students past the post-into riding level
- Ensure all safety gates are latched securely upon entering and leaving the turnout pens
- Any parents or guests working with horses must have appropriate footwear and a signed copy of the stables liability insurance waiver. Guests/friends are not to be in stalls or pens with horses.
- Proper/suitable riding attire is a must, including a properly fitted helmet and riding boots with a small 90 degree angle heel
- Purchasing your own equestrian riding helmet is recommended. All Sagehill Stables lesson students must wear protective headgear while riding any discipline and at any level. It is recommended that the protective headgear meet the ASTM (American Society for the Testing Materials) standard.
- Sagehill Stables is a positive, welcoming and therapeutic environment for clients. Bullying and harassment will not be tolerated and are grounds for immediate termination of any lessons or programs without notice and without refund
BOOKING LESSONS: Programs with monthly payment plans: Equestrian Development Program (EDP) Students (experienced students ages 8+) - Students booking group or semi-private lessons must commit to weekly lessons in the full Fall (Sept..through Dec.), Winter (Jan. through Mar.), Spring (April through June) or Summer (Jul. through Aug.) session (exact session start/end dates vary by year). Lessons outside of the Equestrian Development program will be privates only
- If private lesson students want to reserve a weekly time-slot and participate in theory class they must commit to weekly lesson in the full session and pay their school horse deposit in advance to book their spot. One-time or bi-weekly private lesson students are not considered part of the EDP programs and are not guaranteed a time-slot and cannot attend free theory classes or lease a horse
- A late session start/end fee of $10/lesson is required for booking part-way through a Session or quitting a session early.
- School horse fees must be paid in full prior to program start and are non-refundable
- Students must be in the Equestrian development program in order to lease a horse.
Introductory Riding Program (beginner students ages 8+) - Students must commit to the full program (usually 10 weeks long) starting in either the Fall (Sept.), Winter (Jan.), or Spring (April) (exact session start/end dates vary by year). Beginner lessons outside of the Introductory Riding Program will be privates only.
Parent and Me Program (students ages 4-8) - Students must commit to the full program (usually 8 weeks long) starting in either the Fall (Sept.), Winter (Jan.), Spring (April) or Summer (Jul.) (exact session start/end dates vary by year). Lessons for students ages 4-8 outside of the Parent and Me Program will be privates only.
Students enrolled in other programs or doing privates must pay for lessons up front and follow the cancellation policy below. STUDENT CANCELLATION POLICY I Agree Please use Equine Office to cancel your lessons and re-book lessons. (Contacting your coach is NOT considered giving notice, however you are welcome to also notify your coach if you have already cancelled on Equine Office). All clients are expected to be able to log in to Equine Office to check their schedule, cancel and rebook lessons, and ensure all contact info is up to date.I Agree If notice of cancellation has not been made at least 4-hr hours before the lesson it will be forfeit automatically (no make-up allowed), no matter the reason of absenteeism.I Agree All make-up lessons and practice rides must be completed within the current session (Fall, Winter, Spring, or Summer). Make-up lessons can be upgraded to private lessons if an appropriate lesson timeslot cannot be found for a group or semi-private make-up. Scheduled Make-up lessons cannot be re-booked (i.e.lessons cannot be rescheduled more than once)I Agree 1 month notice is required to withdraw from a session of the Equestrian Development Program, and a $10/lesson rescheduling fee will be applied for the remaining lessons missed in the session. No refunds on fees already paid towards the session or on school horse deposit.I Agree Introductory Riding Program or Parent and Me Program students cannot withdraw from their program mid-session
SAGEHILL STABLES CANCELLATION POLICY I Agree Sagehill Stables reserves the right to reschedule lessons due to weather, low enrolment of students in a lesson (cancellations), holidays, arena bookings, or coach/horse emergencies:I Agree Group lessons require a minimum of 3 students to run, and Sagehill Stables reserves the right to change or reschedule lessons accordingly with 4hrs notice to due low enrolmentI Agree Semi-private lessons require a minimum of 2 students to run, and Sagehill Stables reserves the right to change or reschedule lessons accordingly with 4 hrs notice due to low enrolmentI Agree Weather warnings as issued by environment Canada may result in lesson cancellation to ensure safety of horses and students travelling to and from the stable: Extreme heat (greater than 37oC humidex), tornado warming, blowing snow or blizzard warning, extreme cold (-37oC windchill).I Agree Events such as schooling shows may require rescheduling or cancellation of lessons. Sagehill Stables will give students a minimum of 3 days’ notice for such schedule changesI Agree Coach emergency or horse emergency may require lessons to be cancelled last minute. Sagehill Stables will reschedule these lessons for students, or students can opt to join another lesson for a make-up lesson.I Agree Students are required to use Equine Office to book and cancel their own lessons and make-up lessons, check their schedule and ensure they have complete all their lessons in their session or packageLESSON STRUCTURE - Equestrian Development Program lessons guarantee a minimum of 30 minutes to max of 45 minutes instructed riding time, with the remainder of the hour in instructed cool down time or other instructed learning activities
- Introductory Riding Program lessons guarantee a minimum of 20 minutes to max of 45 minutes instructed of riding time, with the remainder of the lesson time in instructed cool down time or other instructed learning activities
- Parent and Me Riding Program lessons guarantee a minimum of 20 minutes to max of 45 minutes instructed riding time, with the remainder of the hour in instructed cool down time or other instructed learning activities like tack-up and untack
- Coach’s have the discretion to reduce riding time in favour of other appropriate learning activities (for example on cold/hot days)
- Warm-up and Cool-down time, whether mounted or dismounted, must be considered as part of the lesson for horses health and wellbeing and students must understand the importance of this time as they continue on their equestrian endeavors
- If a fall, accident, horse lameness or disturbance occurs that results in less than the minimum riding time listed above, Sagehill Stables will issue a make-up lesson or add the lesson back to the students package to re-book
- Equestrian Development Program students who are registered in the full session (Fall, Winter, Spring, or Summer) can participate in an unlimited number of theory events put on throughout the session
Social Media and Photography: I give permission for Sagehill Stables to use my/my child’s photographs for advertising on social media, website or other stable print or online publication, with my prior written or verbal approval of the photo/video: I Agree Please note that for any professional photo-shoots arranged by the student with a Sagehill owned horse, Sagehill will charge a horse use/facility fee OR request copies of the photos for use in advertising online in which case student is asked to email copies of the photos to lessons@sagehillstables.com (please email lessons@sagehillstables.com to book)Students and parents/guardians will follow these guidelines regarding social media posting or risk losing their lease or spot in the lesson program (without a refund) INVOICING I Agree All FEES are to be PAID on/or BEFORE the due date marked on the invoice. We will accept etransfer to lessons@sagehillstables.com, cheques and cash. Credit card payments can be accepted but participant will be charged a 2.75% credit card fee. ALL ACCOUNTS OVERDUE 30 DAYS ARE SUBJECT TO 24% INTEREST PER ANNUM.
