Group Ride Consent and Waiver Welcome to a Papa Wheelies or Mama Wheelies Group Ride! We need to go over a few things before we can set out on a ride together, and there are a few items our lawyers need for us to have on file. This will just take a few minutes once a year. Thank you for your patience! We ride with respect, for the road, the trails, and everyone we share them with. That means: Be aware: We’re not the only ones out here. Respect other cyclists, runners, walkers, drivers, dogs, and even those rogue squirrels who always seem to pick the worst possible moment to cross. Communicate: Call out when you’re slowing or stopping. Use your voice and your hands to point, show, and tell others where you’re going. Predictability is safety, don’t surprise the folks behind you. Be seen: Always ride with lights - front and rear - that are charged and turned on at night and recommended during the day. Know your ride: Your bike needs to be in good working condition to keep you and others safe. If something doesn’t feel right, or you’re not sure whether your bike is road-ready, ask for help. We have professional mechanics on staff at the shop, and our ride leaders are skilled in roadside and trailside repairs. We would love to help you out before a small issue becomes a big problem. We ride with joy and courtesy. We’re ambassadors of our community every time we roll. Let’s make people glad to share the road and trails with us. I agree to hold harmless and indemnify Portsmouth Cycle Center, Inc DBA Papa Wheelies Bicycle Shop and it’s owners, agents, and employees, as well as the equipment manufacturers and distributers, of any and all loss or damage I may cause to person or property while engaged in bike related activities. This includes, but is not limited to, any and all claims for personal injury, death and/or property damage that may arise out of the use of this bike and it’s equipment, to myself or others. I understand and am aware that biking is a HAZARDOUS ACTIVITY. I understand that biking involves a risk of injury to any and all parts of my body. I hereby freely and expressly assume and accept responsibility for any and all risks of harm and/or death while participating in this activity. I understand that it is not possible to predict every situation and condition of the terrain the bike will be ridden on; therefore, it is impossible to guarantee the bike I use will react safely in all riding conditions. I realize it is mandatory that I wear a helmet at all times while biking and that I obey all trail signs and remain on open trails. This waiver covers all future Papa Wheelies and Mama Wheelies rides and events. Medical & Emergency Stuff If something goes sideways, we’ll do everything we can within our limits - call for help, get your emergency contact on the line - but you’re ultimately responsible for any medical treatment or costs that come from your adventure.
