Acknowledgement of Risk & Release of Liability *To be completed once per year by each client. I acknowledge and agree to the following terms regarding services provided by RockPilot Rigging: Scope of Services
- RockPilot Rigging provides inspection, maintenance, repair, and modification services for paragliding wings, harnesses, reserve parachutes, and related equipment.
Assumption of Risk:
- I understand and accept that all paragliding and reserve equipment, even after professional service or repair, is used entirely at my own risk. The inherent risks of paragliding, including serious injury or death, cannot be eliminated, even with expert maintenance.
Qualifications and Limitations:
- RockPilot Rigging (Micky and Veronika) are master technicians certified by APPI, with advanced training from USPA and CSPA Elite Master Rigger Examiners. We maintain professional relationships with Canadian, European, Japanese, and US paragliding trimmers and riggers. Despite our expertise and care, we cannot guarantee the continued airworthiness or safety of any equipment, as future wear, aging, improper use, or external conditions may affect its integrity.
Client Responsibilities: - It is the client’s responsibility to perform a thorough pre-flight inspection of all equipment before each use.
- Any modifications, repairs, or installations performed by the client or third parties after service by RockPilot Rigging void any implied assurances of safety or performance.
- Clients must follow all manufacturer guidelines, safety bulletins, and recommended maintenance schedules.
Limitations of Service:
- While all services are performed with diligence and care, I acknowledge that errors, limitations in inspection/testing methods, or undetectable defects may exist. Not all damage or wear is visible or detectable during standard inspections.
Release of Liability:
- I hereby release, indemnify, and hold harmless RockPilot Rigging, its owners, employees, agents, and affiliates from any and all claims, damages, injuries, or losses resulting from the use of any equipment serviced, repaired, or modified by RockPilot Rigging, including but not limited to claims arising from their own negligence, except in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct as defined by law.
Additional Activities Not Covered:
- This release of liability also applies to, but is not limited to, the following activities, which are performed strictly at your own risk:
- Purchasing lines or parts from RockPilot Rigging and installing them on your own wing (not recommended without proper instruction).
- Installing lines or parts on another person’s wing (prohibited without professional training).
- Packing or installing your own reserve parachute into your harness (not recommended).
- Packing or installing a reserve parachute into another person’s harness (prohibited without professional training).
- Any modifications, repairs, or installations not performed or directly supervised by RockPilot Rigging.
- Participation in any of these activities is at your own risk, and RockPilot Rigging assumes no responsibility for any consequences arising from such actions.
Equipment Pickup and Transport:
- Clients are responsible for the safe transport, storage, and handling of their equipment before and after service. RockPilot Rigging is not liable for damage or loss occurring during shipping or transport unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Manufacturer Recalls and Bulletins:
- Clients are responsible for staying informed about manufacturer recalls, safety bulletins, and updates relevant to their equipment. RockPilot Rigging will notify clients of any known issues at the time of service but cannot guarantee ongoing notification.
Jurisdiction:
- Any disputes, claims, or legal proceedings arising from or related to this agreement shall be subject exclusively to the courts of the Province of Alberta.
By signing below, I confirm that I have read, understood, and agree to the terms outlined above. I accept full responsibility for the use, installation, and modification of any equipment serviced or supplied by RockPilot Rigging
