Thank you for volunteering with Brooklyn Surf Club. We are committed to creating a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for all children and families participating in our programs. All volunteers working with youth must agree to the following Code of Conduct and Youth Protection Policy.

Brooklyn Surf Club ("BSC") is committed to providing a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for all children, families, volunteers, and community members participating in its programs and activities.

As a volunteer, I understand that I may work with or around minors and that I have a responsibility to act in a manner that promotes their safety, well-being, and dignity at all times.

By signing this agreement, I acknowledge and agree that:

  1. I will comply with all Brooklyn Surf Club policies, procedures, safety requirements, and volunteer guidelines.
  2. I will conduct myself in a professional, respectful, and responsible manner when interacting with participants, parents, volunteers, staff, and members of the public.
  3. I will immediately report any injury, accident, unsafe condition, suspected abuse, neglect, harassment, misconduct, or violation of Brooklyn Surf Club policies to Brooklyn Surf Club leadership.
  4. I understand that Brooklyn Surf Club maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding child abuse, sexual misconduct, harassment, discrimination, bullying, violence, or any conduct that may place a participant at risk.
  5. I understand that volunteer participation is a privilege and may be suspended or terminated at any time if Brooklyn Surf Club determines that my conduct is inconsistent with its mission, policies, or participant safety requirements.
  6. I authorize Brooklyn Surf Club and its designated screening providers to conduct volunteer screening, including criminal background checks, sex offender registry searches, identity verification, and related screening activities permitted by applicable law.
  7. I certify that all information provided by me is accurate and complete. I agree to promptly notify Brooklyn Surf Club of any change that could affect my eligibility to volunteer with youth participants.
  8. I understand that information collected through this volunteer application and screening process will be used for volunteer administration, youth protection, safety, risk management, and related organizational purposes.
  9. I acknowledge that volunteering in beach, ocean, and surf-related activities involves inherent risks, including but not limited to exposure to ocean conditions, weather, waves, currents, marine life, physical exertion, slips, falls, equipment-related incidents, and other hazards. I voluntarily assume these risks while participating as a volunteer.
  10. To the fullest extent permitted by law, I release and hold harmless Brooklyn Surf Club, its directors, officers, volunteers, sponsors, partners, and representatives from claims arising out of my participation as a volunteer, except to the extent caused by gross negligence or willful misconduct.

I HAVE READ THIS AGREEMENT CAREFULLY. BY SIGNING ELECTRONICALLY, I ACKNOWLEDGE THAT I UNDERSTAND ITS CONTENTS, AGREE TO ITS TERMS, AUTHORIZE THE SCREENING DESCRIBED ABOVE, AND VOLUNTARILY ACCEPT THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF SERVING AS A BROOKLYN SURF CLUB VOLUNTEER.
