BARRINGTON HILL INC LIABILITY RELEASE & HOLD HARMLESS AGREEMENT

WARNING Under Florida law, an equine activity sponsor or equine professional is not liable for an injury to, or the death of, a participant in equine activities resulting from the inherent risks of equine activities. FLORIDA STATUTES 1993, Title XLV TORTS, CHAPTER 773 EQUINE ACTIVITIES, Fla. Stat. § 773.01 (1993).

I, the undersigned, signing as the legal parent or guardian of the minor, have read and understand, and freely and voluntarily enter into this Release and Hold Harmless Agreement with Alicia Trias and Barrington Hill Inc, their agents and employees, collectively known as Barrington Hill ("Farm"), understanding that this Release and Hold Harmless Agreement is a waiver of any and all liability (ies).
I have read and fully understand the "WARNING" posted above.
I understand the potential dangers that I could incur in mounting, riding, walking, boarding, feeding said horse; including, but not limited to, any interactions with other horses. Understanding those risks I hereby release that Farm, its officers, directors, shareholders, employees and anyone else directly or indirectly connected with that Farm from any liability whatsoever in the event of injury or damage of any nature (or perhaps even death) to me or anone else caused by or incidental to my electing to mount and ride a horse owned or operated by Alicia Trias, Barrington Hill Inc. I have read and understand FLORIDA STATUTES for EQUINE ACTIVITIES, Fla. Stat. S 773.01 (1993).

4. I understand and recognize and warrant that this Release and Hold Harmless Agreement, is being voluntarily and intentionally signed and agreed to, and that in signing this Release and Hold Harmless Agreement I know and understand that this Release and Hold Harmless Agreement may further limit the liability of equine professionals beyond that statutorily provided by the above referenced Florida Statutes; to include any activity, whatsoever, involving an equine, including death, personal injury and/or damage to property.

5. I recognize and agree that I know which equine professional(s) I will be working with, and acknowledge agree said equine professionals) has/have made reasonable and prudent efforts to determine my ability to engage in the equine activity, and has/have sufficient knowledge of my equine and horseback riding skills as to relieve, release and hold harmless said equine professional(s) from any continuing duty to monitor my equine activities.

6. I further voluntarily agree and warrant to Release and Hold Harmless this (these) equine professional(s) from any liability whatsoever, including, but not limited to, any incident caused by or related to said equine professional's (s') negligence, relating to injuries known, unknown, or otherwise not herein disclosed; including, but not limited to, injuries, death or property damage from: mounting; riding; dismounting; walking; grooming; feeding; use of horse barn, paddock, trails or horse ring, in any capacity; falling off horse whether horse is bucking, flipping, spooked; or my failure to understand any equine professional's directions relating to my riding or otherwise use and control, or lack thereof, of my horse or the horse I have been assigned to.

Helmet & Boot Guide

HELMETS

The majority of serious injuries related to horses involve head injuries. Wearing an ASTM /SEI approved riding helmet is the most important way to practice safe horseback riding, and is required at all times while riding at Barrington Hill

Horseback riding helmets are available for your use at Barrington Hill for your first lesson only. All students must have their own helmets after the first lesson. A bicycle helmet is not an appropriate substitute for a horseback riding helmet. A horseback riding helmet covers more of a person's head than does a bicycle helmet, fitting lower on the head, particularly at the back of the skull, and has protection distributed evenly around the head rather than concentrated in the front and back. In addition, good ventilation and comfort are important features of a riding helmet.

Important criteria when fitting helmets:

The helmet should feel snug around the entire head without pressure points.

The helmet should sit level on the head and the forehead should be covered by the helmet within two fingers width of the eyebrows.

Open your mouth in a big yawn. The helmet should pull down on the head. If not, tighten the chin strap.

If your helmet rocks back more than two fingers above the eyebrows, shorten the front strap and retest.

If your helmet rocks forward into your eyes, tighten the back strap and retest.

Important criteria when purchasing a helmet:

• When shopping for helmets, you will find they are sold in both numerical sizes and S/M/L/XL. To measure for a helmet, measure the circumference of the rider's head with a clothing measuring tape. The tape should circle around the forehead and above the top of the ears.

Look up the measurement with the corresponding helmet sizes. These numbers are still helpful when the choices are small, medium, large and extra large.

We are fortunate to live a short drive from numerous great tack stores. Even if you plan to order online, visit a local tack store to try at least a few helmets on in person to determine the right fit for your head.

Most manufacturers recommend replacement after five years or so, or whenever the helmet takes a hard blow. Some manufacturers offer low-cost replacement helmets if your helmet is involved in a hard fall.

BOOTS

Horse riding boots are protective foot gear designed for horseback riding. Most horse related injuries are a result of falling from a horse and being kicked. This can happen if your foot gets caught in the stirrup, which can be caused by inappropriate footwear. Therefore, choosing the right boots is very important.

Appropriate footwear will help you feel more comfortable in the saddle.

Important criteria when selecting boots:

The boot must have the proper heel height to prevent the foot from sliding through the stirrup. The heel is the most important element of horseback riding boots. The ideal heel is one to two inches high. Do not use a horse riding boot with heel that is more than two inches. This will alter the natural position of your foot in the stirrup and your riding position will be affected.

The ideal boot has a sole that is smooth or lightly textured to avoid being caught on the tread of the stirrup in the event of a fall. Choose a boot with a plain leather sole that is relatively flat. A rubber sole is perfectly acceptable. Do not buy horseback riding boots with thick treads, as this can increase the risk of your foot becoming stuck in the stirrup.

A good pair of horseback riding boots should have a good heel and a proper tread. You do not have to have a custom designed boots. For safe riding, your boots only have to meet the two criteria.

Barrington Hill Rules & Procedures

GENERAL RULES

All visitors must sign a liability release in the office before entering the barn, whether they will be riding or not.

All visitors under the age of 16 must have a parent or guardian present at all times.

Barrington Hill hours of operation are 9:00 am to 7:00 pm Monday - Sunday. Very early/late visits are allowed with advance notice.

Please enter and exit the driveway slowly (15 mph) for the safety of our riders.

All gates are to be closed at all times. If you open a gate, please close it behind you.

Please do not climb, sit, or stand on any fence or the arena sides.

No dogs or other pets are permitted on Barrington Hill property.

No running, yelling, or other fast movement that could startle horses.

No smoking or alcohol is permitted on Barrington Hill property.

Barrington Hill is not responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged items left at the barn.

No one is permitted past mid-point of the barn due to stallions and guard dogs. BEWARE THEY BITE!

Please report any unsafe condition to Barrington Hill staff immediately.

INTERACTING WITH HORSES

An ASTM/SEI approved helmet, long pants, and closed toed shoes are required for all riders.

Appropriate riding boots (minimum ½ inch heel) are required for anyone taking lessons or leasing.

No horses are permitted in the parking or viewing areas.

No mounting or riding horses in the barn or barnyard area.

Mount only once in arena area.

Lead horses only with a fastened halter and attached lead.

Remove the halter before returning the horse to any stall, paddock, or pasture.

Prepare your equipment before getting your horse from the paddock. No horses may be left unattended when tied.

When using cross ties, please make sure they are connected to the baling twine and not directly to the wall.

When you are finished using them, please clip them back up so they are not lying on the ground.

If your horse makes a mess on the wash rack or other tying areas, please clean it up into the provided containers.

Do not leave any tack or equipment on the wash rack or tying areas. Please help us keep our facility clean by replacing equipment where you found it.
