AREA RUG CLEANING WAIVER & ASSUMPTION OF RISK

Review Privacy Policy

(Required for ALL area rugs prior to cleaning)

Thank you for choosing Carolina Carpet Solutions for your area rug cleaning needs. Area rugs present unique construction, fiber, dye, and backing characteristics that differ significantly from wall‑to‑wall carpet and upholstery. Because of these differences, and because area rugs often require more aggressive cleaning due to their condition, all area rugs must have this waiver signed prior to cleaning.

By signing below, you acknowledge and accept the risks inherent in area rug cleaning and authorize Carolina Carpet Solutions to proceed.

1. ACCEPTANCE OF RISK OF DISTORTION, CURLING & STRUCTURAL CHANGE

Area rugs vary widely in construction, fiber type, backing materials, dye stability, and manufacturing quality. Certain rugs — especially synthetic rugs, tufted rugs, latex‑backed rugs, and rugs with unstable dyes — may react unpredictably during or after cleaning.

The customer understands and accepts that area rug cleaning may result in:

  • Curling, rippling, waving, or distortion during or after cleaning or drying
  • Texture changes, including stiffness, softness, or pile distortion
  • Backing separation, bubbling, delamination, or adhesive breakdown
  • Permanent structural changes caused by pre‑existing wear, dry rot, or degraded materials

These outcomes may occur even when proper industry‑standard cleaning methods are used and may be unavoidable in certain rugs, particularly synthetic rugs that curl regardless of cleaning method.

2. AGGRESSIVE CLEANING MAY BE REQUIRED

Some rugs require more aggressive cleaning due to heavy soil, pet contamination, residue buildup, or long‑standing stains. When aggressive cleaning is required, the customer acknowledges that:

  • Increased agitation, flushing, or moisture may elevate the risk of distortion or curling
  • Aggressive cleaning may expose or worsen pre‑existing weaknesses in the rug
  • Results may still be limited due to the rug’s condition, construction, or contamination level

The customer authorizes Carolina Carpet Solutions to use the cleaning method deemed necessary to achieve the best possible results under the circumstances.

3. DYE INSTABILITY, BLEEDING & COLOR CHANGE

Many area rugs contain dyes that are unstable, worn, chemically altered, or affected by pet urine, prior cleanings, or sun exposure. The customer understands that cleaning may result in:

  • Dye migration or bleeding
  • Color fading or discoloration
  • Uneven color appearance
  • Permanent changes to the rug’s visual presentation

These risks are inherent to the rug’s construction and condition and cannot be fully predicted prior to cleaning.

4. ODOR RELEASE & PET CONTAMINATION

Deep cleaning may temporarily increase odors, especially in rugs affected by pet urine or moisture‑related contamination. The customer understands that:

  • Odors may intensify during or after cleaning
  • Pet urine may cause permanent discoloration or dye instability
  • Odor removal is not guaranteed, even with advanced treatments
  • Severe contamination may require factory washing or replacement

5. PRE‑EXISTING CONDITIONS

The customer acknowledges that pre‑existing conditions may contribute to post‑cleaning changes or damage, including:

  • Dry rot
  • Pet urine saturation
  • Sun fading
  • Residue buildup
  • Previous cleaning agents
  • Worn fibers or degraded backing
  • Manufacturing defects

Carolina Carpet Solutions is not responsible for damage caused by any pre‑existing condition.

6. FACTORY WASHING RECOMMENDATION

When appropriate, Carolina Carpet Solutions may recommend off‑site factory washing performed by a third‑party specialist. The customer understands that:

  • Factory washing may be the safer option for certain rugs
  • Choosing in‑home cleaning instead of factory washing may increase the likelihood of distortion, curling, dye migration, or incomplete odor removal
  • The decision to decline factory washing is made solely by the customer

7. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

YOUR SIGNATURE BELOW INDICATES THAT YOU UNDERSTAND AND ACCEPT THAT AREA RUG CLEANING CARRIES INHERENT RISKS, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Curling, rippling, waving, or distortion
  • Dye migration, bleeding, or color change
  • Texture change or pile distortion
  • Backing separation or adhesive failure
  • Odor release or worsening odor
  • Permanent structural or cosmetic changes

YOU RELEASE CAROLINA CARPET SOLUTIONS FROM ALL LIABILITY FOR ANY AND ALL DAMAGE THAT MAY OCCUR DURING OR AFTER CLEANING OF YOUR AREA RUG(S), WHETHER CAUSED BY CLEANING METHODS, PRE‑EXISTING CONDITIONS, OR THE RUG’S INHERENT CONSTRUCTION.y and paste the body of your waiver here.
