Initial *

Payment: I agree to pay all charges owed to Skydive Toronto Inc., even if such charges are entered at a later date upon auditing the manifest records.

Initial *

Parachute Packing Areas: Parachutes can be packed inside the hangar on the packing mat designated for experienced skydivers. There is one packing mat allocated for experienced skydivers and a separate packing mat allocated to the school's equipment.

Initial *

Office areas and associated computer equipment are out of bounds to all skydivers.

Initial *

Trailer Space: prior to buying/bringing a trailer to the trailer park, I will check the status with the Ops Manager.

Initial *
Gear Requirements

Gear: I agree to arrange maintenance to keep my parachute gear in an airworthy condition as per CSPA Basic Safety Regulations and Equipment Doctrine.

Initial *

Protective Head Gear (Helmet) is required to be worn by everyone for aircraft take-off and for every skydive. The minimum is a leather hat or equivalent.

Initial *

Skydive Toronto Inc. Requirements:

Canadian Sport Parachute Association (C.S.P.A) Basic Safety Rules and Safety Recommendations are followed.

To jump with a camera, a 'B' CoP, 200 jumps, and a briefing from the video leader are required.

Skydiving exits are done no later than sunset time, unless authorized by the operations manager.

Initial *

Automatic activation devices are required at Skydive Toronto: Skydivers who jump at Skydive Toronto Inc. are required to be equipped with an appropriate, sound, and functional Automatic Activation Device on their reserve parachute.

Set your AAD higher: You are strongly advised to set your AAD activation altitude at 1,000’ due to the hills which rise up to 250’ to the west and north of the drop zone. There have been 10 cases worldwide where an AAD has activated the reserve too low to affect a save

Aircraft Safety Procedures

On a regular basis skydivers and passengers are seriously injured or killed by walking into aircraft propellers. The danger presented by a moving propeller is magnified by its invisibility and the various distractions (noise, excitement, unfamiliarity) on the persons about to board the aircraft. Extreme alertness and situation awareness must be exercised by all skydivers to insure their own safety and the well-being of others.

Exit Order:

• Co-ordinate with the other jumpers on your load.

• Exit Order is: Belly – big to small (including PFF); Freefly – big to small; Tandems; Wing Suits.

  • Moving Dives can be placed anywhere in the exit order but must be decided and communicated with the load.
Initial *

Airplanes:

Cessna 182: Jump door is to be operated by pilot only.

Caravan: Jump door is to be operated by trained personnel. Red light means "Open the Door". Green light means "Proceed to Spot".

Use of Seatbelts & Helmets: "on" for take-off on all airplanes.

Initial *

Pilots should exercise extreme vigilance when taxiing their aircraft to the loading area. Cessna 182 pilots should pull their mixture control prior to reaching the awaiting skydivers and allow the aircraft to roll past these persons to force them to approach the airplane from the rear. For hot loading, the Caravan pilot must position his aircraft so that the loading group approaches the cargo door from the rear.

All skydivers will exercise extreme caution around all aircrafts and should assume that the prop could start at anytime and that the pilot does not see them.

Initial *

Approach the Cessna 182 from the rear only when the engine is shut off. Do not pass the wing strut. First jumper to exit should hold up the door while boarding.

All skydivers will exercise extreme caution around all aircrafts and should assume that the prop could start at anytime and that the pilot does not see them.

Initial *

When boarding any aircraft away from the standard loading gate, as required by wet/soft ground conditions, extraordinary alertness must be taken.

Initial *

The tandem student should walk to the Caravan by standing to the right of the instructor with his side strap securely held by the instructor.  This ensures the instructor is between the student and the propeller and that the student cannot walk away into the front of the airplane.

Initial *

The instructor and videographer must give all their attention to the boarding process to maximize their alertness. This is not a time for them to adjust their own equipment as that would cause them to take their eyes off the student.

Initial *

The student should climb up the boarding ladder first and the instructor second so that the instructor can keep an eye on the student during the actual loading process.

Initial *

Absolutely no one (aircraft loader, videographer, instructor, experienced jumper, student) should ever go past the wing strut to the front of the airplane. The wing strut represents the ‘RED LINE OF DANGER’.

Initial *

The aircraft loader should give the boarding slip to the pilot by giving it to the first jumper to board the aircraft.

Initial *

Jumpers need to have their parachute harness on in a "jump ready" manner.

Initial *

No shouting or running during the boarding process as this causes distraction and confusion.

Initial *

Disembarking persons (passengers on orientation rides, skydivers who did not jump due to equipment, weather, or refusal) must be greeted and led away safely from the aircraft by ground personnel, instructor or pilot.

Initial *

I acknowledge that traveling in the ground transportation vehicle provided by Skydive Toronto Inc involves the inherent risks associated with motor vehicle use, including the risk of injury or death resulting from accidents or collisions. I voluntarily and of my own free will agree to accept this complimentary (free of charge) ground transportation service offered by Skydive Toronto Inc for the purpose of boarding the aircraft or for transportation to and from a designated location.

Canopy Procedures

The higher risk of canopy collisions is a result of the lack of vigilance or the ignorance of canopy collision avoidance techniques by many skydivers.

Activation Altitude 3,000 AGL:

• On terminal freefall jumps, you are required to activate the main parachute no lower than 3,000’ due to the rising elevation of the hills around the drop zone.

Initial *

Always place your hands on your rear risers as the main chute is inflating so you are prepared to enact any avoidance techniques if required.

Initials *

During the initial “turn and look” at the drop zone, to establish the wind and circuit pattern, find the location and relative height of all other canopies.

Initial *

Always look for other canopies of possible conflict before commencing a turn.

Initial *

Regularly look to the left, right, forward, below and above to identify the location of other canopy(s).

Initial *

If you have a light wing loading, apply brakes to your canopy to float above other canopies. Put your arms out perpendicular to your body to communicate what you are doing. If each jumper was landing at a different time, due to vertical separation, there would not be any risk of a canopy collision.

Initial *

Use the proper circuit pattern which is a left hand circuit for winds from the north, north east and north west; and a right hand circuit when winds are from the south, south east and south west.

Initial *

Fly a wider and higher circuit pattern so that there is more horizontal spacing between each canopy. This will allow each jumper more room to float, dive, or take evasive action.

Initial *

Turn on base leg at around 500 ft and final at around 200 - 300 ft, so as to establish a stable final approach.

Initial *

Avoid doing `S` turns or sashays on final approach as these take up considerable lateral air space in front of other canopies. Avoid doing 360 degree turns, on final approach, for the same reason.

Initial *

Land In The Area Designated For You: extreme canopy pilots in the “SWOOP lane”, regular jumpers and tandems further to the east in the “experienced jumper landing lane”, and students and novices way down in the “flat area”. After landing, as you are walking back, look up and give the right of way to descending canopies. In very high winds, videographers should also land in the “flat area” to induce the tandems to do the same, so as to avoid the turbulence from the ridge and hanger.

Initial *

Canopy Control & Landing Area: I realize that it is important to touch down safely in the designated landing areas. I will:

- Keep informed of the current spot.

- Use the proper circuit pattern when steering my parachute.

- Be aware of turbulence particularly when the winds are strong and blowing from the West, North West, and South West.

- Avoid swooping or landing in the spectator area, the parking lot or aircraft movement areas, the taxiway, and the runway.

Initial *

Swooping/Canopy Piloting Policy: Extreme canopy piloting involving the use of 270° or greater turns onto final are limited to:

• Skydivers with 500 skydives who have taken a course conducted by a recognized Canopy Piloting coach or under the supervision of a recognized Canopy Piloting coach.

• These jumps are to be performed from a Cessna 182 or a low pass on the caravan.

No turns on landing, from the Caravan, greater than 100°.

Initial *

Extreme canopy pilots who want to do a 270° or greater turns prior to final approach, have special responsibilities. They should do extreme canopy piloting from a Cessna 182 or low pass from the caravan.

Initial *

Buy or design the most colourful main canopy for life. Red, yellow, orange and pink are easier to see in the air and also on the ground (to find a cutaway canopy) than green, blue, grey, black or brown.

Initial *

Obstacles On & Off Site: Use avoidance techniques for all obstacles. Please be aware of ponds, forests, road, traffic, power lines, and surrounding hills

Initial *

Good Neighbour Policy: Whenever I am landing on any property other than Skydive Toronto Inc.'s, I will apologize to the property owner by saying, "I am very sorry, I'll do better next time. Please join us for a free airplane ride."
