Range Rules Here at The Lead Dispensary, safety comes first. Please take the time to read all of the rules carefully.
Check-In - Anyone suspected of using drugs or alcohol, including medical marijuana card holders, will not be permitted to shoot on the range or handle firearms. Marijuana is still federally illegal regardless of state law and users may not possess firearms– even momentarily. If you have used any alcohol or mind-altering drugs, including prescriptions, within the past 8 hours, or you are still under the influence of their effects, you are not permitted to enter the range or handle firearms.
- Any person who is prohibited by any law from possessing firearms for any reason is not permitted on the range or to handle firearms.
- All firearms brought in to shoot on the range must be unloaded and in a case.Holsters are NOT cases.
- All firearms and ammunition to be fired on the range are subject to staff approval.
- If you are pregnant or believe you may be pregnant, you are not permitted on the range.
- Our safety program requires two shooters when choosing to rent a firearm unless you possess an operable firearm of your own.
- No food, drinks, chewing gum, or tobacco products are permitted to be consumed on the range.
- NRR-rated ear protection and ANSI-rated eyewear or prescription glasses are required on the range.

- If you are new to shooting, please let us know so we can further assist you.
Range Officers - The Range Safety Officer on duty is in direct charge of the range at all times. They will eject any person handling a firearm in an unsafe or careless manner. Any arguing or harassment of the RSO will result in a permanent ban and/or involvement of law enforcement with potential for trespassing charges.
Vandalism - Anyone found firing at lights, baffles, carriers, any equipment, or anything except a staff-approved target will be immediately charged for damages, ejected, and banned permanently. Vandals will be reported to law enforcement.
Prohibited Ammunition - NO steel shot or tungsten shot for shotguns.

Range Commands - At any given moment on the range, you may hear a call out of “CEASE FIRE!”; at this time you MUST put your firearm down on the shooting bench, step back from the firing line, and wait for further instructions from the Range Officer. If instructed to “unload,” or “clear” your firearm, remove the magazine (if any), remove the chambered round, and lock the action open to show it is fully unloaded.
DO NOT TOUCH THE FIREARM AGAIN UNTIL THE RANGE IS PRONOUNCED “HOT” AGAIN BY STAFF.
At the Firing Line - Firearms must remain pointed down range at all times.
- Firearms must be unloaded and in a case to be removed from the firing line, even if moving to another lane.
- Firearms are not permitted to be disassembled or cleaned at our facility. Removing a slide, barrel, or upper receiver is permitted.
- Anyone younger than 18 years of age is not permitted to be on the range without an adult. The adult must stay within arm’s reach of the minor when they are handling firearms. If the adult leaves the range area, the minor must also leave.
- Two people may not simultaneously fire a firearm in the same lane.
- Cross-lane shooting is not permitted. Shooters are only permitted to fire at the target aligned with their lane.
- Shooters are not permitted forward of the firing line. If something is dropped, ask for help from staff.
- All equipment left unattended is at the owner’s risk.
- If you choose to leave a firearm at the bench, it must be unloaded and locked open.
- Shooters are not permitted to move to another lane without asking permission from staff.
- Loaded firearms may not be handed to another person. Set it down and the other person may pick it up.
- Only eye-level, aimed shooting is permitted. No hip fire or firing without aiming.
- Drawing from a holster will only be permitted at the discretion of the Range Officer. Permission will be revoked after each visit and the shooter must obtain permission again upon the next visit.
- If a firearm malfunctions and you cannot fix the problem yourself, DO NOT remove it from the firing line. Leave the firearm on the bench and ask a staff member to accompany you to the firing line to fix it.
- The target must be adjusted to be at eye level for the shooter. Bullets must impact the backstop, not the floor or baffles.
- All safety concerns, damages, or injuries, no matter how small, must be reported to the Range Officer or another staff member immediately.
- All third-party instructors are required to obtain adequate insurance if instructing a student to draw a firearm or perform any movements apart from still-positioned, standing shooting. Adequacy of insurance is at the discretion of TLD management.
