Half Lease Agreement for Lesson Ponies

This Half Lease Agreement (“Agreement”) is entered into on July 21, 2026 between:

Owner/Barn: Mare Meadows Farm
Lessee/Rider: the undersigned
Parent/Guardian (if rider is under 18):

3. Lease Fee

The lessee agrees to pay:

  • $650 per month
  • Payment is due on the 1st of each month

Late payments may result in suspension of riding privileges until payment is received.

4. What the Half Lease Includes

The half lease includes:

  • 2 lessons per week
  • 1 supervised free ride per week
  • Opportunity to attend 1 show per month with trainer approval
  • Use of the horse for approved lessons, rides, and shows
  • Access to tack and equipment provided by Mare Meadows Farm

All rides must be scheduled and approved through Mare Meadows Farm.

For riders under 18, a parent or guardian must remain present at the arena/property during all free rides to supervise.

Free rides are the responsibility of the lessee to schedule and attend. Unused free rides do not roll over into future weeks and do not hold monetary value, credit, or refund if missed or unused.

No jumping is permitted during free rides or at any time without direct trainer supervision and approval.

5. Horse Care & Veterinary Costs

Mare Meadows Farm agrees to provide routine care including:

  • Feed and daily care
  • Regular farrier care
  • Standard veterinary care

Lessee agrees to pay for or contribute to the following if applicable:

  • Show fees
  • Injections/maintenance required for jumping or competition
  • Special veterinary care caused by rider negligence
  • Any agreed upon extra expenses

6. Riding Rules

Lessee agrees to:

  • Follow all barn rules and trainer instructions
  • Wear an ASTM/SEI approved helmet while riding
  • Treat the horse, staff, and equipment respectfully
  • Not allow anyone else to ride the horse without permission
  • Ride only during approved times

Unsafe or inappropriate behavior may result in termination of the lease with no refund.

7. Showing & Off-Property Use

Horse may only attend shows, clinics, or leave the property with approval from Mare Meadows Farm.

Show schedules and coaching arrangements must be coordinated through Mare Meadows Farm.

8. Risk & Liability

Horseback riding is a dangerous activity and involves inherent risk.

Lessee and/or parent/guardian assumes all risk associated with riding and handling horses and agrees to hold harmless Mare Meadows Farm, its owners, trainers, employees, and property owners from any injury, loss, or damage.

9. Termination

Mare Meadows Farm may terminate this agreement immediately for:

  • Unsafe behavior
  • Non-payment
  • Failure to follow barn rules
  • Mistreatment of horse or equipment

Lessee may terminate the agreement with 30 days written notice.

Refunds are not guaranteed for early termination.
