Whalefall is a mission driven organization and team of advocates and activists working diligently for our global environment success. Accordingly we take our Code of Conduct very seriously. As a team member or representative we ask that you do as well. Please read this agreement carefully.
The Whalefall student or activity participant (“Participant”), as denoted and signed below, hereby understands and agrees that they will strictly adhere to the below Code of Conduct while in any way participating in, or representing, the Whalefall program. The Participant intends to participate in the Whalefall program along with the hosting school/facility, Nueva School (“School”) on or about February 23, 2025 (the “Program”).
Participation may include, without limitation, any activity or program-related activities, meals, time spent at rest, and time sleeping, as well as all formal and informal Program sessions. Whalefall staff, School chaperons, boat, and dive crew, etc. (the “Crew”) will be actively supporting Participant participation during the Program, however it is both impossible and inappropriate to always monitor Participant behavior and activities.
Therefore, the Participant hereby acknowledges and accepts responsibility for themselves and the consequences of their actions, whether engaged with others, and all risk and resulting damage to themselves and others, whether deemed under direct supervision of any party, including the Crew. 1. Participants are subject to both the rules and regulations set out by the Crew or partner organization that may be supporting the Program. Participants are subject to the laws and regulations of all legitimate regulatory bodies as may be applicable during the period of the Program. While at sea, the Participant will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination of scuba diving privileges and/or confinement to quarters. While in transport on land or air, or at a land-based location, disciplinary action may result in expulsion from the Program and the Participant being sent home. Any associated cost is the sole responsibility of the undersigned Student. PARTICIPANT, PLEASE INITIAL EACH REQUIRMENT TO CONFIRM YOUR UNDERSTANDING: Participant may not purchase, possess, or consume any non-prescribed drugs, alcohol or other mood-altering substances including non-prescribed drugs. Participant may not purchase, possess, or consume cigarettes, tobacco products and/or e-devices for nicotine ingestion or otherwise. Participant may not deviate from the group or group activity, at any time: day, or night; unless expressly authorized by a member of the Crew. Participant may not break any applicable law or regulation, including those in the destination location and those that would be applicable to the Participant their home region or province. Participant may not in any way disparage, purposely misrepresent or otherwise maline any member of the Crew, Whalefall, the mission of the Program or the School. Participant may not engage in any unreasonable or inappropriate conduct, including, overtly offensive behavior, abusive physical or verbal interactions, threats, violence of any type, abuse of the customs or traditions of a community, or unapproved absences from Program activities.2. Any member of the Crew may terminate Participant participation in the Program at their reasonable, sole discretion. All costs directly associated with the expulsion are the Participant's responsibility. BOTH THE PARTICIPANT AND THE PARTICIPANT’S PARENT(S) OR GUARDIAN(S), IF APPLICABLE, HAVE READ THIS DOCUMENT IN ITS ENTIRETY AND REVIEWED IT TOGETHER. THE PARTICIPANT UNDERSTANDS, ACKNOWLEDGES AND ACCEPTS THE RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS AS SET OUT HEREIN AND VOLUNTARILY ACCEPTS, AND FULLY AGREE TO ITS TERMS, WHICH SHALL BE BINDING UPON THEM, THEIR HEIRS, ESTATE, EXECUTORS AND ADMINISTRATORS. ANY MODIFICATIONS OF THIS AGREEMENT MUST BE APPROVED BY WHALEFALL.
