PART II: FIREARMS & RANGE SAFETY RULES1. The Four Universal Firearms Safety Rules- Treat all firearms as if they are loaded.
- Never point a firearm at anything you are not willing to shoot.
- Keep your finger off the trigger until you have made the decision to shoot.
- Know your target and understand what is beyond it.
2. Shooting Range Operations & Protocols- Safety Gear: Eye and ear protection are mandatory on the shooting range. They must be put on before entering the live-fire environment and worn continuously until exiting.
- Range Commands: I will strictly obey all commands issued by Sure Grip Arms ("SGA") instructors, range safety officers, or staff.
- Emergency Cease Fire: When the command "CEASE FIRE" is given (whether vocalized, whistled, or signaled), I will stop shooting IMMEDIATELY, keep my firearm pointed in a safe direction downrange, remove my finger from the trigger, and wait for further explicit instructions.
- Reporting Hazards: I will immediately report any unsafe activity, mechanical malfunction, or hazardous condition to an SGA instructor, range safety officer or staff member.
- Hygiene & Toxic Exposure: I will avoid contact with my face, eyes, and mouth when handling firearms, ammunition, or range equipment to minimize heavy-metal and lead exposure. I will wash my hands thoroughly with cold water and soap and or de-leading wipes immediately after leaving the shooting range area.
3. Medical Fitness, Sobriety, and Legal Eligibility- Sobriety Certification: I certify, under penalty of perjury, that I am not under the influence of alcohol, cannabis (marijuana), illegal drugs, or any prescription or over-the-counter medication that may impair my physical coordination, motor skills, or mental judgment.
- Mental & Physical Fitness: I affirm that I possess the physical capability, emotional stability, and mental focus required to safely handle loaded firearms. I have no medical conditions (including tremors or vision impairments not corrected by lenses) that would compromise safe range operations.
- Legal Compliance: I certify that I am legally eligible to possess, handle, and transport firearms under all applicable federal, State of California, and local laws. I am not prohibited from owning or possessing firearms due to a felony conviction, a domestic violence restraining order, a mental health adjudication, or any other legal restriction.
4. Right of Instructor to Terminate and Eject- Unilateral Authority: I explicitly acknowledge that SGA instructors, range safety officers, and range staff reserve the absolute right to terminate my participation, revoke my range privileges, and eject me from the premises immediately, without notice or monetary refund, if I violate any safety rule, display unsafe firearm handling, show signs of impairment, or fail to follow direct staff commands.

- Shooting Range: Reloaded (non-factory) ammunition is strictly prohibited due to safety concerns.
- Tracer & Incendiary Rounds: These ammunition types are strictly prohibited due to severe fire hazards.

I agree to strictly follow these rules at all times, without exception:
PART III: ASSUMPTION OF RISK, LIABILITY WAIVER, & LEGAL RELEASES6. Express Assumption of Inherent RisksI acknowledge that participating in firearms training, self-defense instruction, and live-fire shooting range activities hosted by Sure Grip Arms ("SGA") involves inherent and unavoidable dangers. These dangers cannot be eliminated regardless of the care, supervision, or safety protocols implemented by SGA. - Physical Hazards: These risks include, but are not limited to, death, serious physical injury, permanent paralysis, blindness, severe hearing loss, concussions, burns from hot shell casings or muzzle flash, flying debris, ricochets, and the accidental discharge of firearms by myself or other participants.
- Environmental & Toxic Hazards: I acknowledge that live-fire range environments expose participants to elevated noise levels and airborne toxic chemicals. In compliance with California Proposition 65, I am expressly warned that handling, cleaning, or discharging firearms involves exposure to lead, chemical residues, and heavy-metal toxins known to the State of California to cause cancer, reproductive harm, birth defects, or other developmental issues.
- Pregnancy Notification: Pregnant individuals, or women who may become pregnant, are strongly advised against entering the range environment because of the significant risks that toxic lead exposure poses to a fetus.
7. Release and Waiver of Liability for Ordinary NegligenceIn consideration for being permitted to enter the premises, use the facilities, and participate in SGA training programs, I hereby release, waive, and forever discharge Sure Grip Arms, its owners, executive officers, independent contractors, certified instructors, range safety officers, employees, volunteers, and the owners of the land or facilities where training occurs (collectively referred to as the "Released Parties") from any and all liability, claims, demands, or causes of action arising out of ordinary negligence. This release covers any physical injury, illness, death, or property damage sustained by me before, during, or after any training activity, whether caused directly or indirectly by the ordinary negligence of the Released Parties. This agreement is legally binding upon my spouse, heirs, executors, administrators, assigns, and personal representatives.
8. Gross Negligence, Willful Misconduct, and Intentional Acts Carve-OutIn strict compliance with California contract law, nothing in this agreement shall be construed to release, waive, or exempt the Released Parties from liability for claims arising out of gross negligence, reckless misconduct, willful acts, or intentional violations of law. If an injury occurs because of conduct that rises above ordinary negligence, this carve-out ensures that my remaining statutory rights under California law are preserved. 9. California Civil Code Section 1542 WaiverI understand and agree that this release applies to all claims, injuries, illnesses, or damages, whether known or unknown to me at the time I sign this document. I expressly waive all rights and benefits I may have under California Civil Code Section 1542, which states: "A general release does not extend to claims that the creditor or releasing party does not know or suspect to exist in his or her favor at the time of executing the release and that, if known by him or her, would have materially affected his or her settlement with the debtor or released party." By waiving this statutory protection, I acknowledge that, even if a medical condition manifests after I leave the premises, I may be legally barred from bringing a claim against the Released Parties.
10. Emergency Medical Care & Financial ResponsibilityI acknowledge that SGA and its staff have no statutory or common-law duty to provide medical rescue services. In the event of a medical emergency during a training session, I hereby grant SGA staff permission to obtain emergency medical treatment on my behalf, including first aid, transportation, or hospitalization. I agree that all costs, fees, and expenses associated with such emergency medical care and transportation are my sole responsibility, and I agree to hold the Released Parties harmless from any financial liability relating to my medical treatment. 11. Facility Conditions and Equipment Accepted "As Is"I acknowledge that SGA does not own or control all properties where training takes place. SGA makes no express or implied warranties regarding the physical condition, layout, design, or fitness of the facilities or safety equipment provided. I accept all facilities and equipment in an "AS IS" and "WITH ALL FAULTS" condition and assume full personal responsibility for selecting and verifying the adequacy of my own personal safety equipment. 12. Infectious and Communicable Disease GuidelinesI understand that attending group activities involves an inherent risk of exposure to communicable diseases. I certify that I will not attend any SGA training event if I am actively experiencing symptoms of a contagious illness or am subject to a legally mandated quarantine. I agree to comply with all health and hygiene protocols enforced by the training staff while on site. 13. Indemnification and Hold Harmless AgreementI agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Released Parties from any and all claims, actions, damages, or financial liabilities (including reasonable attorney fees and court costs) brought by third parties that arise directly from my actions, safety violations, or misconduct during an SGA event. Furthermore, I accept full financial responsibility for any property damage I cause through the unauthorized handling of equipment.
14. Severability and Savings ClauseI expressly agree that this agreement is intended to be as broad and inclusive as permitted under the laws of the State of California. If any provision of this waiver is found by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision shall be severed from the remainder of the document. The invalidity of that provision shall not affect the remaining portions of this agreement, which shall remain in full force and effect. 15. Governing Law, Dispute Resolution, and Venue SelectionThis agreement shall be interpreted and enforced in accordance with the laws of the State of California. I expressly agree that any legal action arising out of or relating to this agreement shall be filed exclusively in the state courts located in Sacramento County, California. These recordings are used for safety auditing, incident documentation, and physical security purposes. I understand that I cannot opt out of mandatory safety surveillance.
- Marketing & Publicity Waiver: I acknowledge that promotional, educational, or marketing media may also be created by SGA. My preference regarding marketing use is selected in the Trainee Information Intake Form below. I understand that if I select "NO, I OBJECT" regarding marketing materials, it is my sole responsibility to notify the lead instructor before instruction begins to ensure compliance.
17. Intellectual Property ProtectionI acknowledge that all training materials, curricula, lesson plans, slide presentations, videos, digital files, printed handouts, and proprietary techniques demonstrated or provided during SGA courses are the exclusive intellectual property of SGA or their respective copyright holders. These materials are provided solely for my personal, non-commercial educational use. I agree that I will not modify, copy, duplicate, record, distribute, resell, create derivative works from, or publicly broadcast any SGA training content or proprietary materials without prior written authorization from an executive officer of SGA.
