Piedmont Wildlife Center Group Volunteering Agreement

Please read all of the bulleted details carefully. This agreement must be completed and signed in order to secure your volunteering date.

Group volunteering events at Piedmont Wildlife Center are a great way to work together with your group in an outdoor setting and help a local nonprofit. To ensure that your group has the best visit possible, please review all of the details/amenities available at Leigh Farm Park below.

  • Prepare to be OUTSIDE for the entire duration of your visit. Please bring water bottles and dress for the weather (rain jacket, closed-toed shoes, seasonally appropriate attire).


  • Due to the outdoor and wooded nature of our programs, some parts of the volunteering with be inaccessible to wheelchairs, walking aids and those with additional mobility concerns.


  • All volunteer must sign up through your provided Activate Good link no later than one week prior to your visit. If the minimum number of participants is not met one week prior to your visit, your visti will be cancelled.
  • A minimum of 5 participants must be confirmed for enclosure cleaning volunteers.
  • A minimum of 4 participants must be confirmed for enrichment volunteers.


  • There are at least two porta-potties on site for your group's use.


  • There are water spigots near the visitor's center and the cabin to refill water bottles.


  • We have 2-4 picnic tables and several benches near the amphitheater for snacks/lunch. Be aware that these may not be available, as we are located on a city park.


  • Please remember you are visiting Leigh Farm Park, a historical City of Durham park. All participants must remain off the buildings on site.


  • Instructors are scheduled to start your volunteering at your requested start time. If your group decides to arrive early, please note that we cannot begin your volunteering any earlier than your requested start time.


  • If your group arrives late, we may not be able to extend your volunteering time due to other scheduled programs. Please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your volunteering start time.


  • Please carpool when able. Our parking lot is small and is shared with our camp staff as well as local disc golfers.

By checking here, you are waiving that right. After consent, you may, upon written request to us, obtain a paper copy of an electronic record.
