IN-KIND GIVING POLICY In conjunction with the fundraising effort for the construction of a new chapter home for the Alpha Iota chapter at the University of Arkansas, it has been suggested that a concerted effort be made to secure in-kind gifts of materials, equipment, and services from alumni who may be able to substantially help the project through those types of donations. There certainly is the opportunity for a win-win situation regarding in-kind gifts, and the alumni leadership and campaign consultants, Pennington & Company, are committed to exploring these opportunities and accommodating them whenever appropriate. To avoid any difficulties or misunderstandings, we have developed the following guidelines and policies regarding potential in-kind gifts: 1. The donor must treat in-kind gifts as if Alpha Gamma Rho was a full-price paying customer. That is to say, no account should be given to the fact that these are donated services or items. The same quality of materials, workmanship, and timeliness of delivery should be guaranteed as if Alpha Iota was a paying customer. 2. No damaged goods (materials, furnishings, fixtures, or equipment) or “seconds” will be accepted unless the defects are disclosed in advance and approved by the Alumni Board. 3. The donor is responsible for assigning a dollar value to their in-kind contribution of materials and shall consult their own tax advisor and/or attorney regarding any potential tax implications or business write-off. 4. The Alumni Board will have the final authority to accept or reject any in-kind gifts and will approve the dollar value assigned to the in-kind gift by the donor for purposes of gift recognition and acknowledgment. 5. Warranties or other guarantees regarding workmanship or materials should be disclosed and approved in advance by the Alumni Board. 6. All materials, fixtures, and equipment must meet or exceed applicable code requirements, safety standards, and specifications as set forth by the project architect or engineers.
