RANGE SAFETY RULES

  1. Keep firearms unloaded until ready to use.
  2. Keep the firearm pointed in a safe direction.
  3. Keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
  4. Treat firearms as if they are loaded at all times.
  5. Be sure of your target and what is in front of and beyond it.
  6. When the range is hot, shooters and observers are required to wear both proper eye and ear protection.
  7. Always communicate with and respect your fellow shooters.
  8. All guns are to be uncased and re-cased at the shooting benches. 
  9. Firearms are not to be handled during “cease fire”/Range Cold.
  10. Firearms are to be carried with the muzzle down or up, action open.
  11. Rifles in the storage racks, or any firearm not in its case, must have the action open and a visible safety indicator in the chamber. When the range is cold, all firearms must have the action open with a visible safety indicator in the chamber.
  12. Firing permitted only when everyone is behind the firing line; the designated range officer has announced the range is hot and safe conditions exist.
  13. Fast draw from a holster is prohibited unless approved by an on duty RSO.
  14. When the range is cold and when not changing targets, STAND behind the RED LINE and/or the ORANGE ROPE.
  15. The 100-yard and 400-yard ranges MUST be “cold” at the same time.
  16. The use of tracers, armor piercing and incendiary ammunition and any type of exploding targets is strictly prohibited.

RANGE CODE OF CONDUCT

  1. EVERYONE is required to sign the registration book at the 100-yard range which acknowledges they have read and have agreed to the posted liability waiver.
  2. Members bringing minors that are not their own must have the minor’s parent or legal guardian first complete a liability waiver for the minor.
  3. Lock the gate upon entering and upon leaving the range.
  4. Range hours are sunrise to sunset.
  5. Raise the range flag on the flag pole upon arrival and take down when departing.
  6. Display membership cards all times.
  7. Being under the influence of or the use of alcoholic beverages, marijuana and any illegal or illicit drugs is strictly prohibited.
  8. Smoking is discouraged and only allowed in designated areas.
  9. Shooting to be in authorized areas only and at proper targets.
  10. No shooting at the target frames or wildlife.
  11. No shooting at targets on the target frames with a shotgun.
  12. Clean-up when you leave the range! Pickup or dispose of all brass, replace target frames and reposition snow barriers if necessary.

Liability Release and Waiver

I acknowledge that all persons using or visiting the GCSSC facilities are required to read and sign this Liability Release & Waiver, releasing the Teller County Shooting Society (TCSS) and its affiliates, subsidiaries, partners, officers, directors, employees, and agents from any and all claims for mental/physical, bodily injuries or other damages resulting from or incidental to use of the GCSSC facilities and participation in any and all activities on GCSSC property.

Anyone who elects not to sign this Liability Release & Waiver is prohibited from entering GCSSC property and using GCSSC facilities.

I acknowledge that I am familiar with the safe and proper use of firearms, and that I have read and understand the GCSSC Range Safety, and Code of Conduct Rules, and agree to abide by all such Rules. TCSS reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to modify those Rules at any time. 

I understand that GCSSC is a shooting sports facility, and engaging in, or being present, during shooting sports is an inherently dangerous activity, and I assume the risks, dangers, or damage that may occur in connection with such activities at GCSSC. I understand that the GCSSC is not monitored by a Range Safety Officer (“RSO”), or supervisor of activities, except in the case of certain public events.

I understand and acknowledge that by signing this document I am giving up certain legal rights and/or possible claims which might be otherwise asserted or maintained against TCSS or its affiliates, subsidiaries, partners, officers, directors, employees, and agents or other persons or entities. I also understand and acknowledge that, except as otherwise provided herein or at law or equity, by signing this document I have assumed responsibility and legal liability for the claims or other legal demands, including defense costs, which may be asserted as a result of my use of the GCSSC.

I AFFIRMATIVELY STATE THAT I AM UNDER NO DURESS OR UNDUE INFLUENCE AND AM SIGNING THIS LIABILITY RELEASE & WAIVER OF MY OWN FREE WILL, AND HAVE READ AND FULLY UNDERSTAND ALL OF THE TERMS CONTAINED HEREIN.
