Alpha Xi Delta Fraternity Membership Agreement – Initiated Member

Membership in Alpha Xi Delta requires a high standard of excellence on the part of every individual member, whether a new member, collegiate member or alumna member. All individuals desiring membership in Alpha Xi Delta Fraternity are required to sign a membership agreement twice a year that outlines the standards of conduct expected of every Alpha Xi Delta member.  

I. I will know, understand and be loyal to the ideals expressed in Alpha Xi Delta’s membership pledge, The Symphony of Alpha Xi Delta and Ritual. I will incorporate these in my daily life and will strive to the realization of the highest standards of personal conduct.

II. I will strive for high academic achievement in my personal life and will encourage the same academic integrity in others.

III. I will respect the dignity of all persons and I will protect the health and safety of all human beings. Alpha Xi Delta is committed to building a Sisterhood that is deeply aware of how justice, equity and human dignity are directly linked to our core beliefs.

IV. I understand that all Alpha Xi Delta members must comply with all federal, state, provincial, and local laws, and university policies regarding hazing. I understand the definition of hazing as stated within Alpha Xi Delta’s Health and Safety Policies. No activity shall have an attitude which implies one member is superior to another or that initiation must be earned through personal services or meaningless activities for initiated members.

V. I will neither misuse nor support the misuse of alcohol, following all Alpha Xi Delta policies regarding alcohol. I will neither use nor support the use of illegal drugs, controlled substances, or drug paraphernalia. In these matters I will obey all local, state and federal laws, and university policies.

VI. I will commit myself to the betterment of Alpha Xi Delta. I realize that to enhance my personal development as an educated woman, I need to be an active participant in my chapter, on campus and within the community.

VII. I will strive during my collegiate experience to have a positive behavioral influence on the members of my chapter and those persons with whom I interact. I understand that my personal actions reflect on the reputation and campus image of my Sisters, my chapter, the National Fraternity and the Fraternity/Sorority community as a whole.

VIII. I will meet all national, local and housing financial obligations in a timely manner. I will live in chapter housing as required by the national and local policies if such housing is provided. I understand that failure to meet financial obligations may result in pursuit of collections by all possible means.

IX. I will respect my property and the property of others; therefore, I will neither abuse nor tolerate the abuse of property. I will do all in my power to see that chapter property is cleaned, maintained and used in a proper manner.

X. I understand that Alpha Xi Delta membership is for a lifetime and will strive to be an active member as both a collegian and alumna. I confirm I have never been initiated into another National Panhellenic Conference member group nor any other single-gender fraternal organization, professional and honor groups excluded. I also understand that once I am an Initiated member of Alpha Xi Delta, I can never join another National Panhellenic Conference member group nor any other single-gender fraternal organization, professional and honor groups excluded.

I realize that membership in Alpha Xi Delta requires that I accept the responsibility to conduct myself in such a way that promotes unity and cooperation; fosters intellectual, professional and personal growth; shows the highest ethical standards and community responsibility. 

I realize that membership in Alpha Xi Delta requires that I have high standards of conduct and I agree to be bound by the membership expectations outlined in this document. I understand that violation of this agreement will result in disciplinary action, up to suspension of my membership. 

I understand that as outlined in the National Policies and Procedures, the Quill Badge is the property of the Fraternity and must be returned if I suspend my membership or if my membership is suspended. 

I have been fully informed of Alpha Xi Delta's policy on hazing as well as all state, college and chapter level laws/policies. I understand the Sisterhood offered to me will not include hazing. I will not haze, will not permit another member to haze, and will notify the National Fraternity of hazing practices of which I am aware.

I will abide by all of Alpha Xi Delta’s Health and Safety Policies and by the Fraternity’s National Constitution and National Policies and Procedures. I understand that my failure to do so jeopardizes my membership in Alpha Xi Delta.

I grant Alpha Xi Delta, its chapters, agents, and assigns (collectively, “AXiD”) a royalty-free, non-exclusive license to use, for any purpose, photographs submitted by me to AXiD and any photos taken of me at any AXiD event or function. I waive any right to inspect or approve any use of such photos. I understand and agree that AXiD may use such photos in print, online, and video-based marketing materials or any other publications promoting AXiD.
